Ted's Wife,

Nice to meet you Mrs. Ted's Wife.  It is a unique name, its actually the americanized spelling of the Arabic version of Alexander, notice the last five letters are the same.

Anyway, the loss of Ted has struck me deeply as I am now so very alone in my crusade to enlighten Westkoast on the subtleties of a pattern offense.  If I cannot help young westkoast, I surmise that I may join Ted in the great beyond.  I suspect the facial ticks and turret's syndrome that is the by-product of my effort will be all there is of my ability to communicate.  Know that your husband was a great man and fellow Jazz fan.

As for his fantasy team, I am still thinking . . . he gave me a very tempting offer and I have yet to decide on its merits.  Expect an answer in the next couple days.

Sincerely,

Skander

Young westkoast?  Skandery I believe we are the same age lol

It's not that you guys are doing a poor job of communicating, I get your point.  I just don't agree.  Simple as that.  I still don't agree they need to change anything and so far the team is proving that in the W/L column.  Didn't they have the 2nd best record in the league this time last year when AK wasn't apart of the offense?

By being the same age, you mean you are both so young as to not really know what the meaning of life is yet?

Because if you knew, you would be very disappointed. <hint: It has nothing to do with basketball, but rather baseball>

I don't know the meaning of life and I don't want to know.  I've decided that I want to be 12 years old again so all I can worry about is school, playing basketball at recess, and skateboarding after school.

I want to hear the baseball reference tho, hit us with it JoMaL

Bless his heart, but Ted struggled to keep up with me in many ways. So there's no way he could have kept up with two wives; even if that had been his belief. He was a sweet husband and loving father, but . . . well . . . let's just say the flag was at half mast long before his death. He did his best though; and what more can a woman ask for?

And no, I am not dating anyone yet. But I've always been interested in distinguished, tall, older men with governments jobs and liberal political views. Do you know anyone?

Well.....yes, but in retrospect, Karl was right. She deserved it since she undercut him.

Someone must have refilled Ted's Viagra capsules with itching powder. I, on the other hand, have the flags of fifty countries flapping off my mast with room for a couple more. I was thinking of adding the pennent for Blushcreepasoloinnahandastan on the end.

And have you checked ALL the upstairs bedrooms to see if you were the only one?

Except for the distinguished part, you would be pleased to know that I happen to be acquainted with just such a person who might be fit that bill. He is the brother of a conservative, redneck, pro global warming, NRA cardholder with hygiene issues who still lives with mom, but I think I can get him out of the house for a few hours.

Add me to the list of ppl who don't think much of AK's offense.  His assists this year are surprising, don't know what he's doing different THIS year, I will have to check him out soon.  AK has never been much of an offensive threat, most if not all his points are hustle points, he cannot create his own shot so I don't see how you can run an offense through the guy, but then again AK is allot more talented than Luke Walton and Luke can and does facilitate the Laker offense when Odom and Kobe are not on the floor, there are times when Walton facilitates the offense with one or both of those guys on the court so it's not out of the question that AK can and does do that for the Jazz.  I have watched AK since he was a rook and I have never thought of the guy as capable of running or facilitating an offense.

Both Luke and AK are not offensive talents at the level you can just hand them the ball and say "go", but they seem to accomplish more with what they have than much more talented players.  Must be cause they are white or something.....

That is a very fair assessment.  Both do facilitate the offense and both teams look more efficient when Walton/AK are filling that role.  I agree that neither can create their own shot but both have above average passing skills, good court vision and what Pop calls "high basketball IQ".  Which in essence means they know WHO to pass to and HOW get the ball to that person so they CAN do the most with it.

But the ball doesn't run through Luke Walton anymore.....hes been replaced by Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar in the offense.  Which brings me back up to the point that with those kind of players others can come in and take over what they do as long as they play inside of the system designed by the coaches.  The Lakers offense is even better then it was last year as far as consistency goes.

But Walton is second on the Lakers in assists.  And most of the drop can be attributed to less minutes.  From the little I have seen of the Lakers this year they look better when Walton is involved in the offense.

But to put some numbers on it...

Walton   3.2 assts in 24.8 minutes  (5.2 for 40 min)  last year  4.3 in 33.0 minutes  (5.2 for 40 min)
Odom     2.3 in 36.0 min (2.6 for 40 min)  last year 4.8 in 39.3 min (4.9 for 40 min)
Farmar   2.9 in 20.4 min  (5.7 for 40 min) last year 1.9 in 15.2 min (5.0 for 40 min)
Kobe     4.8 in 36.6 min  (5.2 for 40 min)  last year 5.4 in 40.8 min  (5.3 for 40 min)
Fisher    3.1 in 26.4 min  (4.7 for 40 min)  last year (Smush) 2.8 in 29.9 min (3.7 for 40 min)

Looks to me like Fisher and Farmar have taken the assists away from Odom not Walton.

Looks to me like Fisher and Farmar have taken the assists away from Odom not Walton.

This is the problem with stats though.  While it looks like he's on clip with last year his role is way different.   Walton has the same number of assists but the ball is not running through him.  The ball goes through Fish and Farmar before Walton.   Truth be told a good chunk of his assists are not coming like they were last year.  They are coming off of steals and long outlets after a rebound.  Those flashy passes we have come to expect from Luke are not there this year like last year.

Odom and Walton are actually in the same boat.  Both are not being asked to play the role they played last year.  Odom is not playing point forward because the role doesn't suit him.  The ball is not going to Luke as often as it was last year.  However the offense is still run through Odom as he often creates a mismatch on the offensive end.
