NBA Discussion / Re: How is everyone doing?
« on: February 20, 2015, 05:05:22 PM »
What's up WOW? Been a while, this board is dying a slow, lingering death unfortunately, I still check in every once in a while, as you can see not very often considering when you posted this. Getting close to retirement been traveling a lot now that we are empty nesters and continuing to be frustrated with the Lakers, although watching the little girl and her seriously overrated older sister get smacked around last year by a bunch of wily old veteranos was something worth watching!

I have been needing to plan a trip to San Francisco to tell off a front office that would get rid of a coach that takes his team to 3 STRAIGHT NFC title games and a Superbowl, not to mention I never thought plugging in Kaepernick over Smith was right, but that is on Harbaugh, still, you don't lose your starting position because of an injury. That having been said, as much as a despise and utterly detest both teams and wish there had been a way they could BOTH lose, the look on Shermans face when Wilson threw that interception was absolutely PRICELESS!

So what have you been up to? Sure miss what this board used to be

Apparently the little girl is running home to momma! Enjoy your prodigal son Cleveland!

DISCLAIMER: This post IN NO WAY means I am jumping on the Spurs bandwagon, I'll leave that to other "fans" :) . I'd almost root for dallas (almost) if it meant lafawnda janes and christina bosh lose in the Finals, that is THE ONLY reason I am so happy right now! and the way they are losing is just icing on the cake.

That said:
Strong fundamentals, a very unselfish starting 5 and an EXCELLENT bench will win just about every time, I have not seen such crisp passing in a long time, Leonards performance was a sight to behold and Chalmers COULD NOT STOP Parker, actually no one could. You don't have to stop lafawnda janes, you just have to shut down Wade and that over rated weasel Bosh and boom! The way the Spurs controlled the boards, was IMO the key, +6 on the O side and all but 3 of those resulted in second chance buckets, 2 of them 3's. On the D side they were plus 11 thereby denying Miami some serious second chance points. If they had a weakness it was turnovers, but Miami only converted about half of those I think. San Antonio is too balanced for a team surrounding 3 cats too big for their own britches, I LOVE IT!

Touche' Rolando, until the Clips win SEVERAL championships or at least start making SERIOUS waves in the playoffs it is still the Lakeshow all the way, one good season does not unseat the Kings of SoCal!

Even if they did prove to more than a 1 or 2 season flash in the pan (and given Sterling's history that seems unlikely) it will still be Lakertown, although with fickle Angelenos...

NBA Discussion / Re: Why the hate/disrespect for LeBron?
« on: March 01, 2013, 02:56:26 PM »
So good to see you Rolando! I think Lebron's problem goes back to his anointing, his subsequent mistreatment of the Cavaliers ("the Decision"), and his inability when the game was on the line to be "the man" thus deferring to IMO the REAL star of the Miami Heat, Dwane Wade.

He certainly has demonstrated his dominance this season but his understated arrogance, much like Kobe and Shaq's overt arrogance, has doomed him to criticism, and I think it is criticism well deserved, I am NO fan of James, but even I am grudgingly recognizing his skills, although he has yet to prove to me he has the stab your heart out and eat it in front of you killer instinct of a Jordan or Bryant, an instinct despite your love of the man, Shaq also lacked.

What are your thoughts? Can't throw the question out there without pontificating about it yourself!

A;; that being said, let me ask you your opinion regarding the Thunder, especially my man (UCLA, what can I say?) Westbrook? Is he the PG of the future? Id Durrant capable of taking them to the promised land? Can the Thunder break through? One of the most exciting team I have seen in a long time, your thoughts?

Jerry Buss died today, great loss to the NBA, between him drafting Magic Johnson and the Celtics drafting what's his name, they brought the NBA from obscurity to national prominence

NBA Discussion / Re: Mike Brown

There is a TON of upside to D'Anonti, not least of which is his absolute confidence in Nash's ability to run a pick and roll offense to perfection, not as good as Stockton to Malone but his ability to pass inside to Howard should become a pretty serious offensive threat around the basket. With Nash's skill at creating offensive opportunities for his teammates front and back court and his outside shot, most teams will be forced into man coverage which should give Gasol and Howard room inside consistently.

I agree about the defense but with Howard patrolling the paint I think most teams will be forced into perimeter games. Once the team gels and gets away from the stagnant stand around Princeton offense and gets used to Nash controlling tempo and spacing, they may very well live up to the expectations we had, I am SOOOO relieved Brown is gone!

Lakers hired Mike D'Antoni. Good move now maybe we'll see this team play to its potential he has always been a favorite of Kobe and he knows Nash very well, offense should improve dramatically

Totally concur, Mike Brown's offensive scheme make ZERO sense when you look at who is running the point, this should be a crisply passing offense that befuddles a team without their 2 big men, instead it was stand around basketball and Pau seemed like the only one committed to any ball movement whatsoever. I know Nash is 38 years old and it's a long season but he is a phenomenal passer AND outside threat which should be dictating the offense and forcing Dallas to play man coverage.

Defensively I am a little surprised because Brown is a defensively minded coach but their rotations seem very slow and they are giving up way to many mid-range jumper because of it.

I agree, it was only game 1 of 82 but last night was unacceptable and inexcusable and remember, they lost all 8 preseason games as well and looked totally out of sync in the process, I am laying most of this squarely at Brown's doorstep.
