Philadelphia 76ers / Grace period for the Phillies is over
« on: December 02, 2008, 07:49:57 AM »
They drive me flippin nuts.

It's amazing to have so much love for the players and so much hate for the front office.

Philadelphia 76ers / The Good

(besides Young):

- We're first in the league in rebounding rate (% of available rebounds)
- we're 6th in the league in opponents points per 100 possessions.
- We're 9th in the league in opponents fg%

Those are 3 good stats to be top 10 in, if we ever get our offensive heads screwed on straight.

Fantasy NBA League / rate your reaches
« on: October 30, 2008, 10:38:27 AM »
The first two weeks of the year or so I don't play like I normally do, which is keeping 2-3 spots to add/drop and fill roster spots.  Reason being, I want to see who on the bottom part of the roster looks like they might work out.
- Kevin Love.   Drafted in 8th round.  12 pts, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 stl, 2 blocks in opener.  no question he'll get minutes this year, so should be solid (but not spectacular).
- Tyrus Thomas.  Drafted in the 10th round.  15 pts, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block in his opening game.  Looks like he's won the starting PF spot and has fantasy monster potential.
- Wilson Chandler.  Drafted 11th round.  17 pts, 9 rebounds in opener.  Hopefully earns him more minutes, which are the main concern.
- Rudy Fernandez.  Drafted in the 12th round.  16 pts, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 3ptm, 3 ftm in season opener.  Hope he ends up winning the starting spot in Portland.
- Kelenna Azubuike.  Drafted in 13th round.  17 pts, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 ftm in opener.  Only played 23 minutes.  Hopefully his play will earn him more minutes as the season progresses.
- Darrell Arthur.  Drafted 14th round.  11 pts, 15 rebounds in opener.  Should get time on the awful Grizzlies, hopefully eventually starting.

Main disappointments.
- Greg Oden.  Drafted 6th round.  0 pts, 5 rebounds, 1 block.  Injured.  Only played 12 minutes.  right now "only" 2-4 weeks, but who knows with sprains.
- Eric Gordon.  Drafted 9th round.  Only 3 pts, 1 reb, 2 assists.  I expected him to get more time.  13 minutes obviously isn't going to cut it.

Can't complain with the production I got in rounds 10-14.  Hopefully 2 of them shake out.

Philadelphia 76ers / Speights might start?

Article talks about Dalembert practicing today, so it doesn't appear to be injury related, and it's at least under consideration.

Fantasy NBA League / Change Draft Date?
« on: October 19, 2008, 11:54:27 AM »
There are currently two people who are unable to attend the draft.  It appears yahoo is no longer inforcing an abitrary limit of how many leagues can draft on a given day, so we can select any date/time.  I'd only change the draft at this point if we can get confirmation that all parties can attend (or, at least, all parties that can make the 25th draft, plus at least one who couldn't).

Anybody have any good days?  What about sunday the 26th?  I have to be on a plane at night, so it would have to be before, say, 3 pm eastern)?  Monday the 27th?

We can even start the league a week later and have the draft the weekend after the season starts, although we'd miss out on a week of scoring.

Mike Bibby
Josh Childress
Kevin Durant
Mike James
Rashard Lewis
Shawn Marion *
Antonio McDyess
Morris Peterson
Ben Wallace
Rasheed Wallace
Earl Watson
Chris Wilcox

* Shawn Marion can only be kept for one more year.

Philadelphia 76ers / Latest from sf1976: Iggy on the block
« on: July 22, 2008, 09:39:07 AM »
For those who put stock in what sf has to say:
Quote
Iggy is definitely on the block......he wants max dollars or very close to max dollars so we are exploring around the league who wouldnt mind paying him the max.

We talked about TMac.....here is another one to ponder that has been discussed.

Vince Carter, Marcus williams and Josh Boone for Andre Iguodala and Reggie Evans.
Filler could be involved but those were the main pieces.

Then again, 2 weeks ago he said the Sixers would definitely match any offer, period, so take it for what it's worth.

Philadelphia 76ers / I friggin hate the phillies
« on: July 17, 2008, 07:06:24 PM »
I really do.

It's a testament to this core that they have that they can compete.  After they're done wasting Utley/Rollins/Howards/Hamels prime, they'll be the laughing stock again, as they give away all minor league talent for middling (at best) players.

Philadelphia 76ers / Message Board Rules/Guidelines
« on: July 07, 2008, 12:35:23 PM »
We only have one real rule: show respect to fellow posters.  Do not attack, belittle, berate, or put down other posters.  This includes, outside of direct "you're an idiot!" banter:
- Saying "someone's an idiot if they believe..."
- You lack reading comprehension (or anything that would suggest they are inadequate mentally)
- Calling someone is sad

In general, you're here to discuss basketball, not to prove your basketball acumen or superiority.  By all means, debate your point.  Don't cross the line and debate the poster or put down someone elses opinion.

Lesser rules:
- do not post pornography, or links to pornography (some of us do read while at work or around kids)
