Nice move for the Spurs.  This has got to be great news for Tim Duncan.  One of the best shooters in the league with one of the best post players in the league?  As soon as Manu resigns (havent heard anything new yet) they will have a very balanced attack.

Manu IMO is a better slasher/play maker than Jackson is because of his passing.  Getting Barry is better news than bringing Jackson back.  Thats for sure.

I agree koast.   The Spurs are a better team ths year than last.  Basically we replaced Hedo with Barry.  Parker, Manu, Barry, Bowen & Devin Brown are a solid 5 man rotation for the 1-3 spots on the floor.  Main need is a back up big man....although word is that Pop & Rose had a good exit interview and things are looking up for Malik rejoining the rotation.  Today's (Sunday) paper said Pop is also looking to possibly sign 1 or 2 big men to minimum deals for training camp.  He may invite Willis & Horry back if he can't find anything better on market.

Jackson isn't as good as his numbers in Atlanta last year showed.  Rumor is that the Pacers are going to do a sign & trade with the Hawks to get him....6 yrs, $40-45 mil.  IMO he will do alright in Indy because their (Carlisle) system is similar to the Spurs.  However he won't put up the numbers he did last year.

Devin Brown pretty much did what Stephen Jackson was doing the following year in the playoffs.  The reason why Jackson looked better is because the whole Spurs team was clicking more and of course they played alot more games.  If the Spurs would have knocked off the Lakers then Brown would have contributed quite a bit IMO.  Brown was still scoring at will and the spacing the Spurs had vs the Lakers was nowhere near the spacing S. Jackson was seeing during their title run. I dunno about you SA faithful but I was very impressed with Brown.  Not just because of his scoring but because of his poise and confidence for being so young.

Let's hope that the Spurs dont resign Horry.  Not because he didnt do much in the Lakers series but because he doesn't have the gas to go thru the whole year if Pop is going to expect Willis/Horry to make up the slack for a missing big man.  Main reason why he sputtered off in the playoffs is because Pop was playing him too much during the season.  I even called it once Horry got more minutes from Rose (yes I am tooting my own horn)  that he would not be able to be effective later in the year because his back/knees are not going to let him.
