There isn't a franchise player in this draft. Losing to get a high draft pick doesn't make sense.  This team has gotten a lot of draft picks. Iguodala, Williams, Carney, Smith, Speights and Holiday. The jury is still out on some of them, but they all appear to be NBA players and above average at their positions. Whatever pick the Sixers get has turned out to be pretty good.

The win streak is the result of some changes in Eddie's rotations, and a weak schedule.  It gets tougher tonight and after the all star break. Games against playoff teams.  I said that the problem was with the offense, and now that they're running more of it though Brand, the team has suddenly figured out how to function in a half-court offense. Defenders collapse in on Brand, which means someone is open. If you pass it fast enough a man will get an uncontested shot.

Better offense means the defense has time to get set,and when they are set, they force plenty of turnovers. Thad Young isn't a good one on one defender, but he gets his hands on a lot of balls on the defensive end. So does Iguodala and Williams and Holiday.

The problem has been when Brand has gone out of the game. Jordan insists on playing Young as a 4 and on the 2nd team he can get away with it some nights, but it's still being stupid. Why run a short line-up when you have players like Speights and Smith? If you can post them up and command double teams, the half-court offense will still work, and the team will still have two rebounders, like they do when they start with Sam and Brand.

5 in a row and 7 of 10, the pace they need to make the playoffs. If Eddie gets better as a coach and plays Thad as a three and Andre as a 2, giving Speights and Smith more playing time at the expense of Ivey and Green, the Sixers can be a good team.  7 of ten is good, but let's see them go 14 of 20, before we get too excited.  I have no faith in Eddie seeing the light.

Admit it.  You've never seen Kentucky play.

Ok I admit it. By the way, when was the last time a point guard was touted as a franchise player? Didn't the Sixers already try that? And the odds of getting that player are so remote that tanking guarantees nothing.

Besides, the Sixers just got a good point guard and that was their 2nd try at it. Lou Williams was their first, and he's actually a decent point.

The Sixers need post players - I think they have them, but they're not using them.

Can you believe the same team that lost 12 in a row could win 5 in a row? Just by shuffling some players around....

Last time a PG was a franchise player:  Chris Paul.

That's cheating!  Going all the way back like that... ;)

And I have Rick ignored...but couldn't help but notice his claiming Lou Wil was a PG.  Which he is not.

1990.  Isaiah Thomas.

Unless, of course, you count Jordan as a point guard, since there were times when he played it.  But, of course, that would make LeBron one of the last point guard prospects highly touted, although not as recently as Paul.

Or, of course, you could say Tony Parker in 2007.  I still credit Duncan, myself.

And prior to that there was this little known PG by the name of Magic Johnson who led his team to 5.

Props to you guys for getting a win streak going.  Though I do wonder if Andre Igs is going to be sent off and you will go back to not winning games like this.

The point is, point guards getting teams to win the Finals is a very rare thing. The Sixers and their fans went through that with Iverson. Close, but no Title.  You really want to start over building around John Wall?  No thank you!

The Sixers could be a very good team, but only if they get rid of Eddie Jordan, who yet again cost us a game with his coaching in Toronto.  Everytime the Sixers had two bigs on the floor, they were even or better than the Raptors, Everytime there was just one big in the game, the Sixers fell behind. ( you can look at the play by play action and see it for yourself) This was clear in the first half. So what does our genius  coach do? Decide to start the game small in the 2nd half, ensuring our players were shorter then their Raptor counterparts.  Only one big in, for most of the 2nd half, and the Sixers falling behind every minute.

I don't know if the sixers could compete with Cleveland or LA, but they are a much better team than their record indicates.  I've seen bad coaches before, but I never saw one who was as stupid or bad for a team as Eddie is. The worst coach ever in the NBA. Stealing money wherever he goes.  Revealing how stupid GM's and Owners are for hiring fools like him.

Wow... its been awhile since I've posted here.   8)

That 5 game win streak disgusted me.  No development for the kids, playing ourselves out of a top 5 pick.  Fortunately, EJ was quick to put an end to it all with that 2nd half starting lineup of Ivey, Holiday, Green, Iguodala, and Dalembert (or was it Smith?) the other night against Toronto.  We came back (or should I say Lou came back), but Toronto made a strong push in the 3rd quarter against that lineup.
