OK City win 50 games next year?
« on: June 24, 2009, 03:31:12 PM »
With 5 good young players between 20-24 and 6th on the way with the #3 overall pick in the 2009 draft, could OKCity jump to 50 wins next season?
Either way the future looks bright for OKC.
Durant
Green
Westbrook
etc
Maybe even Robert Swift can do some Birdman type of comeback.

GM Sam Presti learned a lot when he was an assistant GM with the Spurs (when they were the RealSpurs), and in fact he is credited with being the one who urged the pick of Tony Parker in 2001.

Last years presea buzzers the Trailblazers had a fine reg season at 54-28 but a rather disappointing flameout in R1 to Houston, 4-2.  Can OKC top that?

No.

OKC isn't even a playoff team next year.  Maybe not for several.

I still think this is a team in danger of collapsing.

26-21 and definitely in the running for a playoff spot.  Only 3 games behind 4th seed Utah and 2 behind the Greg Poppycocks.
Schedule us favorable the rest of the way.
James Harden the 3rd overall pick has not been great but he has not been a bust either.

Okc will play injured New Orleans this Wednesday so i look for them to take that game and overtake New Orl in the standings.

82 games is a long season for a young team.  Though they've played well so far other teams like the Grizz are also right up there at 25-21 so we will wait to see how they end those last 15 games when everyone is playing their hearts out to jocky for position in the playoffs.

While I wasnt big on Durant at first, Zigs made me see the light after a debate we had.  I started to pay more attention to him and think hes going to be real dangerous in the next few years.

Durant is looking more and more like the IceMan (George Gervin). The future's so bright they have to wear shades.

Right now OKC is projected for 47 wins.  We shall see if they actually do it.  If they do then 50 wins next year is certainly a possibility.
A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

Is there all that much different in the west?  Took 48 to get in last year, 50 the year before.

A little bit.  Two highly competitive teams the last few seasons are crippled by injury right now in the Houston Rockets and Hornets (Chris Paul being out 6 months is a major blow)

Currently 6th seed at 34-23 as their 9 game win streak ended after a tough loss late to Phx and then getting upset by the Spurs.
Schedule very favorable the next 10-11 games so we shall see if they can keep winning.

It continues to look good for OKC.

4-1 since we last checked.
6th seed still holding.
38-24 with a one game lead in the loss column over the Lord Poppycocks.
Should win at home tonight vs New Orl then a mail in game vs the tanking Nets.
40 wins (by March 14th) here we come.

42-27
4-3 since we last checked after last nights upset loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
Kevin Durant, absense of defensive stopper Mike Finley went off for 45, but it wasn't enough as the Spurs pulled out a squeaker behind Dick Jeffersons rebounding effort (2).
Tied with the Spurs for 6th seed now, but not to worry.  The Spurs Lakerlike schedule (early season softies to pad wins) is about to turn brutal.  Beginning with that Kobester guy.

13 games left
8-5 to hit 50.

Thanks for updating us on the team you are switching to from the Spurs.  We've all been curious where you were going after SA.

Haven't switched yet.  After all, i remember the MLB team that put tire spikes in front of the car of their pitcher who kept blowing games, thereby he missed the game!  Maybe some Texans will do something similar to Popovich during the stretch run and especially the playoffs.

Meanwhile i work for OKC Thunder part time.  Thank you.

OKC 122 Houston 104
OKC 91 Lakers 75 due in large part to Kobe OWNS!!!

44-27
6-5 needed to hit 50.

You're going down on both counts, Vancil.
Big win at Dallas last night, now in about 10 minutes they will have upend the Wolves for 48-28.

Just got to win 2 of the final 6.   :)
Opponents effort (or lack thereof) will depend a lot on seedings battles.  But all indication are the second to the last season game @ Portland will be a battle.
