He's been hanging out here in LA for no other reason than to stir up stupid rumors.  Great move by his agent.  Maybe next week he can go hang out in Boston and see the sights.  That way some bum team can pick him up for more than he's worth.

Report: Marbury puts $1M back on tableComment Email Print ESPN.com news services

Banished New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury has again offered to return $1 million in salary to the team in an effort to renew talks toward a buyout, the New York Post has reported.

Seven weeks after taking the $1 million off the table as Marbury and the Knicks failed to agree on terms for a split, the two-time All-Star told the newspaper he has an offer to play for another team.

The Knicks have told Marbury a decision now rests with owner James Dolan, the Post reported. The 12-year veteran said he's been waiting to hear from them for several days, according to the paper.

"I'm hoping," Marbury told the Post. "I don't know what the real reason would be if they didn't take it."

Signs pointed toward Marbury landing with the Boston Celtics earlier this month, and Boston was his preferred destination if he were to become a free agent, sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com then.

But buyout talks have stalled, and president Donnie Walsh's last offer required Marbury to take at least $3 million less, the Post reported.

"I can't fight a billion-dollar company," Marbury said, according to the newspaper. "I've been waiting nearly a week."

Information from ESPN.com senior writer Marc Stein was used in this report.

"History shouldn't be a mystery"
"Our story is real history"
"Not his story"

"My people's culture was strong, it was pure"
"And if not for that white greed"
"It would've endured"

Personally, if I'm Walsh, I tell Marbury, "No, if you want a ring, you're going to have to BUY it.  $0 is our best offer.  You've tanked the franchise, and we're done 'negotiating.'"

I would instanatly become a Knicks fan if that would be the case.

WayOut,

I just regard it as, "How much is preserving the dignity of the organization worth?"  Paying off Marbury is saying to every future player, "..and if you want out, just embarrass us, and we'll let you out for a minor buy-out where you get to keep most of the money."

A better message is, "We don't tolerate BS."

Not only do they tolerate BS they actually promote them to high ranking spots inside of the organization or sign them to lucrative contracts.  We are talking about the Knicks still right?
