I'm asking this across a few boards. Assume we get a new coach.
Aside from trying to get easy fast break chances, what should this team try to be in the half court?
Look at the current roster. Limit future roster changes to moving Miller and/or Sam and having the MLE this summer. Here are some options:
1. Early offense/Dantoni
-prob need more shooters, and likely go small with Thad at PF for long stretches. Need a good driving, decent shooting PG (drive and kick.)
2. Motion/Priceton:
-takes advantage of this teams good cutters. rob try to mve Sam for a better passer/shooter like Brad Miller.
3. Pick and Roll/Pop.... Sloan offense:
-Maximize Brand. Need a PG who has a respectable shot and good quickness. Likely need better perimeter shooters using trades/MLE (but not necessarily great players on the perimeter)
4. Isolation:
-Focus on the best match-up and go to the well until it is dry. Either post up one of the guards/forwards or have a G/F break down their man (Lou/Miller/Iguodala/Thad) . Leaves some players underutilized, but great for masking weak offensive players like Sam and Evans.
5.Triangle:
-Use Brand at the high post. Add shooters. probably a reach for the talent on this team unless Thad becomes unstopable
5. Other: Is there a scheme that fits the current or future core that I'm missing?
