NBA Prediction Contest?
« on: October 03, 2008, 12:40:19 PM »
Is anyone interested in a little NBA prediction contest?

Pick the division winners, pick the conference and title winners
Major award winners (MVP, ROY, COY, SMOY)
Even break it down in to some of the 'stat' leaders PPG, RPG, APG
Or get a bit more 'modern' and predict PER leader, TS% leader, etc...

Anyone interested?

We usually do these right as the regular season starts.  Obviously they are just in the air guesses but it's interesting to re-up the thread later in the season.

ROY is going to go to Oden, no doubt.

MVP winner is going to be Lebron James.

Coach of the year might go to Larry Brown (LOLOLOL)

SMOY?  What's that?

SMOY - Sixth Man - This is tough, a lot depends on who is starting for contenders and who comes off the bench.  If Battier comes off the bench and the Rockets succeed (at least reg season) then he is who I think will win.

MVP - Paul vs King...and the King wins this year.

ROY - Oden.  But Beasley could get the playing time in Miami to pull the votes.

COY - Vinnie Del Negro as he gets one more decent year from Shaq/Nash to surprise the pundits.  Of course they crash & burn in round one of the playoffs.  Side note: Does anyone think Carlisle will be successful in Dallas?

Reports are that Battier will start at the 3 and Artest at the 4 in houston.

That seems odd to me

Awesome!  I can't wait to see Artest guard PFs such as Kevin Garnett, Amare Stoudamire, Pau Gasol, and Elton Brand to name a few....

Well it'll be something new to look forward to in Houston as opposed to when Yao and McGrady will suffer their next toe/back injury respectively.

Terry Porter is coaching Phoenix, and Vinnie Del Negro is coaching in Chicago.
A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

Darn...I was afraid I got that wrong.  Well, then Porter in Phoenix will get the nod.

I thought it read funny but I tend to mis-remember things and didn't want to tak the time to look it up.

I wonder how Amare Stoudemire feels when most people forget he's probably the best player on his team and shaq is a fat washed up putz.

Oh my - the suns have problems now.

Seriously - all players should wear goggles just in case - stoudemire might miss half the season now?
