Lakers sign 6'9" Chinese guard

He's actually a point guard, with yet another ad nauseum comparison made to Magic Johnson.  However Lakers spokesman says he will play shooting guard.  2nd round pick.

Meanwhile the Spurs 2nd round pick James Gist bolted for Europe.  Sources quoted him as saying "I don't want to play for that old cementhead Popavich.  Man he is boring and stubborn.  I'm gonna play for a year or two in Europe and try to get on the Lakers."

So what did Sun Lue look like vs U.S. and then todays overtime choke job vs Spain?

I heard ballhandling was Chinas downfall vs Spain.  China lead the whole way by as many as 18 and choked in the last 8 minutes.

The fact that Spain barely got by China and the USA mauled them has to make you feel good about our chances. Wasn't Spain supposed to be one of the toughest teams?

China was pumped to play the US, for a while they couldn't miss from 3-pt range.  The US just wore them down.  Spain and Greece are supposed to be the top dogs behind the US.  Greece is supposed to be the best "team" but everyone figures the US will just out-talent them.

From what I've seen and heard:
1. USA
2. Greece
3. Spain

I have watched both of Spain's games, and they are the second best team.  I have to say that Ricky Rubio is going to be a really good NBA player, if not a real star.  He is 17, been playing in the main Spanish league since 14, Draft Express has him going #1 in the draft next year.  Amazing poise for a 17 year old.

Reality, I have to admit, you're getting pretty good with Photoshop.

And Pau Gasol is the ugliest basketball player on the planet.

I haven't seen Spain play yet, they are the defending champs but I've read about how well the Greek team plays together as a team.  I'd like to see the German team play with Dirk and the Caveman.  They would be fun to watch vs USA.

This guy was touted as the "Asian Magic Johnson" for his ball handling/passing/height.  Though from what I heard we was solid against the US but nothing to get overly excited about.

I've seen him play before, he's pretty good but his speed and strength are not quite NBA level and he needs to work on his consistency from the outside.

So if he plays sg which is what Lakers brass says he will, will he be a backup to Kome or just ride the bench this 1st year and bulk up?

The rumor is they are going to move Kobe to the 3 and Odom to the 2.  Though he will ride the bench for at least 2 years.  Luke Walton and Trevor Ariza are going to take up any additional minutes he might get.  If anything they will develop him and try to deal him IMO.
