It's on ESPN now.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3479059

It's about 5/82, which, according to my calculations, works out at around a starting salary of 14.2m.

Is there anyone out there who is not completely shocked that the Sixers pulled this off.  I had some hope before the FA period started, but basically went through the seven stages of grief and had moved on.  Then the banter today, and whala- Philly is suddenly relevant- the team that steals the stud FA from LA and SF.

Who would have thunk it.  I am actually still to shocked to get excited for next year...

biggest FA signing since the Moses Malone signing.  on the other BK would have f*%ked this up if he were still the GM.

Props to Fast Eddie who kept his cards close to him, quietly working the details then big turn of events in the last 24 hours.

I wouldn't say I'm shocked, but I'm a little surprised that Brand is going to come here (and am still waiting for the dotted line press conference)...and I think the quick moves by stefanski in this one move justify the firing of billy king, no matter what ranting people say :)

I would LOVE to see davis change his mind and go looking for money back from the warriors :)

Davis made the best move possible for him.
-The Warriors weren't willing to give him a long term contract, he gets financial security in LA
-Neither the Ws or the Clippers were going anywhere anyway, with or without Brand
-Davis gets to play in his hometown

Wow... according to the LA Times, not only are the Clippers losing Brand to us but Maggette apparently has a 5 year/$50MIL deal in place with the Warriors. Besides the Clippers, the biggest loser in all of this has to be Josh Smith who probably just went from getting at least $65MIL to something much less. Actually, with the Warriors and Sixers using their space, I imagine ALL of the restricted free agents just lost out. If GSW would have signed Smith, Iguodala, or Deng... it would have driven the market up for the other players with their current teams. Now I think we'll see all of these guys back to getting offers in the 5 years/$55MIL range.

Maggette was gone from the clippers, they renounced his rights to get davis (they had to) and still keep brand and he and dunleavy REALLY didn't get along, he was a goner...

Did LAC have any clue this was going to happen? Not likely, their counter-moves need to start in about 3 hours - will they go after Josh Smith, Biedrins, Okafor?

What kind of cap space do they have? They now have a HUGE hole at the 4 and so I could see them making a play for one of those guys. Of course, this is the Clippers so who the hell knows and frankly... who cares??
