I can't see Iguodala taking a deal less than the one Monta got.

I agree.  Monte starts at 9M.  Iguodala will start at at least 10M.  The 5/62 (or 6.77) number I threw out there would be a deal starting at 10.5M.

I could easily see Iggy taking a shorter deal than Ellis.  I think Ellis recognizes that with his build he may not last forever as a SG in this league and may not be as much of a star outside of that system in GS.  I think Iggy feels he is much closer to a max player, but does not have a ton of leverage as an RFA.  He might well go the route of the recent max guys and shoot for a year or two shorter contract, confident that he will cash in even bigger as a UFA down the road.

That's probably fine for both parties, since its not entirely clear how well Iguodala will fit if/when Young emerges.  A shorter deal probably makes him easier to move if things don't work out.

If I were Iguodala I'd be a little worried that he might be more of a Magette type player in 4 years, since he will no longer be young, and likely won't be a top 2 scorer on the Sixers.  He could very easliy be forced into a MLE type deal like Magette alsmost had to take if things don't fall his way.

I don't think he'll be much of a star without Davis next to him in the backcourt either. Smart move on his part to cash in now.

News/Rumors today:

- Biedrins and Vujacic are both considering offers in Europe.  It does not sound like either one is actively negotiating with  Euro team yet, but they are highly sought after and unhappy with their current NBA contract talks.

- GS matches the Clips offer for Azibuke (sp?) after their reported deal with Mo Evans falls through.

- Sean Willaims and/or Stromile Swift on the block in NJ?

- Nuggets sign Chris Andersen and Dahntay Jones.

A ribbon with an old red-white-blue ABA ball in the center.

Unfortunately I see the makings of another cheesy WNBA comercial.

Because he's a big man, I don't think his negotiations impact our RFAs all that much but Emeka Okafor and the Charlotte Bobcats are apparently still far apart on agreeing to a new deal. This shouldn't be a shock given what Bogut got from Milwaukee.
