I hope Mullin doesn't cave in and extend him early. They just lost their franchise player and committed lots of dollars long term. They should see how they fair early on this season before fully committing to the team as currently constructed. Personally, if they couldn't make the playoffs (granted in an exceptionally competitive western conference last year) with Baron Davis, I don't think they can get it done without him. Jackson may be a major part of the team, but I don't know if he's the man to step forward and take on a leadership role now that their franchise player has jumped ship.... and he probably shouldn't get paid accordingly.... especially with so much time left on his current contract.
