I actually thought Kwame was going to be a decent NBA player a couple of years back- maybe almost as good as Sam.  He's definitely going nowhere fast.

All depens on how you want to look at it, Michael Jordan doesn't seem to know what the hell he's doing drafting so it's just another in a long line of mistakes whereas Darko was a mis-step by another GM who seems to be better at drafting...

I think there was a lot more 'concern' about kwame when he was the #1, work ethic, something about small hands, young big men and their history versus darko who was fueled by hype and 'potential'.

My recollection is that a lot more people were unsure about kwame than they were darko, plus when you factor in the impact a 'darko bust' had on the rest of the 'european' invastion in general, i think darko gets the biggest bust tendency?

I think you also have to factor in who was drafted AFTER said players, i have no memory of who else was in the kwame draft, but we all know there were some better options in the darko draft

After Kwame was taken.. you had the following players taken...

#2: Ty Chandler
#3: Pau Gasol
#4: Eddy Curry
#5: Jason Richardson
#6: Shane Battier
#10: Joe Johnson
#13: Richard Jefferson
#19: Zach Randolph
#25: Gerald Wallace
#26: Sam Dalembert
#28: Tony Parker
#31: Gilbert Arenas

Obviously if the draft we held all over, Gasol would go #1 and Parker or Arenas probably go #2/#3 but it's not as though that draft was full of Hall of Fame players whereas Darko's was.

Darko is the only one in the top 5 of his draft that hasn't made an all-NBA team yet. The other 4 are playing for Team USA, #6 (Kaman) is playing for Germany, #7 (Hinrich) started for USA is 2006, and #8 (Ford) when healthy is an above average point guard.

Meanwhile Darko is playing 24 mpg in pretty much the worst frontcourt in the NBA

One thing I'll say about the two is that Milicic still actually has some time (only 23), and as of now he's a serviceable frontcourt player. He won't be an All-Star, so I guess a definite bust, but I could see him sticking in a team's rotation. Brown's 3 years older and just seems to get worse.

Darko seems to be the better player, relatively, and Kwame was in the weaker draft.  Darko was a second pick while Kwame went first overall.  Wow, this is as useful as arguing over which of the Olsen twins has been the biggest let down since they turned 18.

They are really triplets.  You don't hear about the third one because she is overweight.

I never thought they had as much potential as most scouts predicted.

I was a draft nut back then and I used to collect any mock draft I could get my hands on. Kandi in most mock drafts was a 2nd rounder who moved to mid-first about 2 weeks before the draft. About a week before the draft there was talk that he could move into the top 5. By draft day, the talk was that Clips were deciding between Bibby and Kandi.

He is someone who rode his height and two weeks of hype to the top pick.

Time will tell if GMs were right for allowing DeAndre Jordan to slip into the 2nd Round. It wasn't that far before the draft where some mocks had him in the Top 5.

Well, we lost Lou Amundson, so how about adding Scott Pollard to fill the funny looking big white guy role.  if so we should hurry, since Walter Hermann has already resigned with the Pistons.
