Memphis' PGs
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:35:22 AM »
As I'm sure you know, Memphis made a deal tonight that sent Love, Miller, and Cardinal to Minnesota for Mayo, Walker, Jaric, and Buckner. Now that the deal is done, Memphis has the following players who can play the point: Conley, Lowry, Mayo, Crittenton, and Jaric.

Mayo isn't going anywhere and Jaric most likely can't be dealt again due to that contract so I wonder if they will try to move 1 of the other 3. I'm sure they'd like keep Conley unless they could get a stud big man for him which we don't have hence would you have interest in Lowry or Crittenton? I'd really like to see us go after Crittenton since the cost for him could be fairly cheap (Carney).

Thoughts??

I like both Lowry and Crittenton.  I really wanted us to pursue Lowry at the deadline last year.  Crittenton is my first choice, but I see Lowry being more attainable and lest costly.

I think Crittenton is probably the one they hold in to.

(they probably intend to use Mayo at the 2).

Lowry depending on the price would be worth taking a look at...Jaric has the hot fiance going for him and I was always pro crittenton...

+1

I've always felt that Crit would be a perfect fit- especially playing next to Lou.  A PG/SG/SF rotation of Crit/Lou/Iguodala/Carney/Young might not have the prurest passeers, but would really fit the uptempo, versatile defensive style this team is building.

Having Crit could mean a lot more PT for Lou Will at the 2 and I'm a fan of that. Either way, with the absence of Kevin Ollie and Miller's future uncertain... I think now would be a good time to acquire a PG to groom.

I'm reasonably confident that we will see much less WG next year.  The only way I see him getting more than 15 mpg is if Thad is not ready at SF.  I think Ed is very low on WG, even if Mo is not.

Now they have even more of a guard glut with Mayo there. They don't even have any swingmen. Both Mayo and Critt could be called combo guards while Conley and Lowry only played the point this year.

I'd be all over that. I wonder if he and Thad were close.

Although, I'm still hoping Carney comes to camp with a three point shot.

Conley is bound to get more minutes than last year, and Mayo is not going to take anything less than 30-34 minutes a game. (he already has to play in memphis ffs) Trow in Lowry and theres not a whole lot of time for Critt.

Wouldn't Crittenton be ahead of lowry on the depth chart though?  Wouldn't the memphis PG depth be

conley
Crittenton
Lowry

By the way, a team like memphis could probably benefit from one year of a truly veteran point guard who knows how to run an offense to tutor conley and ease mayos translation into the league....but not have to pay him past next season.

Hmmm....i wonder where they could find such a player
