What does that tell you?  prawk prawk 3 titles in 6 years.
Nothing that John Wooden did not already clearly spell out.
What did Wooden say his best year coaching was?  And why?

Go to the mountain.

First of all John Wooden said it's really hard to pin point any championship.  He enjoyed all of them a lot.  If he had to be forced to choose?

He said the first year he won the title was the most special.  The second most special was the year they won it after Kareem left in which they said that UCLA would not be able to do once he was gone.

There are only 5 coaches in ALL NBA history that have won 3 titles in 6 years:
Kundla
Auerbach
Riley
PJ
Pop

What does that tell you?

That choosing to coach a team with superstars will make even coattail riders look good.

Avery Johnson and Del Harris would disagree.

And Wooden said it was none of his championship years but rather a non tournament team which started out crappy, overachieved and ended up 16-10.

Relevancy to this thread?  Coaches with the best rosters may neccessarily be the best coaches.  Poppycock IMO has had the best roster 6 years straight, yet is only 3 of 6.

Well said!   :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D  Fumbles at the one yard line!!!!!  LOL! LOL! LOL!

FYI:

Of the four titles Pop has won with the Spurs only ONCE did he have the best roster in the league:

1999 The Lakers had a better roster than the Spurs but brains, execution and teamwork won in the end.
2003 The Lakers had a better roster than the Spurs because the Spurs back court was very green.
2005 The Spurs had the best roster, although the Suns and Mavs were very close.
2007 The Suns and Mavs had better rosters, Mavs melted down in round 1 and the Suns (Amare) had a brain fart, or collusion if you prefer, and lost the series.

The years they didn't win:
2000 to 2002 The Lakers AND Kings had better rosters, even the Mavs had more talent at more positions.
2004 the Lakers had the greatest roster of all time, if it hadn't been for injuries the Lakers would have had 70 wins and won the title.  How can anyone be STUPID enough to think the Spurs had a better roster this year?  HOW?
2006 The Suns and Mavs had better rosters than the Spurs.
2008 The Lakers, Suns, Jazz and Celtics all have better rosters than the Spurs.

your self proclaimed ownage has gone below lame status.
Put up a reasonable discussion or tell your and westkoasts Nanny to keep you away from the p.c.  Or stay on all-Laker sites. :D

Your GOAT team got worked 2-0 by the Spurs.  Enter Phil listening to Gary Paytons suggestion to drop the triangle and go to more P n R.
Enter Popazit to stubbornly make zero counter adjustments and get worked 4 straight.
True ownage.

Are you honestly saying the Spurs had a better roster than the Lakers in 2004?

So the Lakers were out coached until Payton took control of PJ and the Lakers?  Wow, PJ must be a crappy coach.  Blows away your whole Pop argument.

prawk prawk 4 titles for Pop.
GOAT 2004 Lakers with 4 Hall of Flamers?

Payton was no where near his talent in his peak years with the Shawn Kemp SuperDupers.
I'm not so sure the Spurs wont end up with 4 HOFs that same year.
Duncan lock.
Manu very likely altho this years screw up hurts him bad.
Parker only 26, plenty of time to add to his winning % which rivals only Magic and Bird thru their first 6 years.
Bob Horry while most on this board count him out and Poppycock made sure to hold down yet 2 more potential Big Shot Bob moments in favor of injured Manu this year, to a lot Bob has already been unique enough and impacted enough PLAYOFF games to get in.  We shall see what the Hall voters decide.  Anything can happen with Hall and Media Valuable Player awards.

So yeah, i think the Spurs had a better roster.
