FTA leaders for playoffs.
« on: May 16, 2008, 03:21:01 PM »
Who has shot the most overall FTAs this playoffs?
I think Shraq has the most per game due to Hacka.

But who has the most overall?  I mean besides Kobe.

Kobe takes nearly twice as many as freethrows as Deron Williams.  Does Kobe attack the basket twice as often as Deron?  That's a serious question.

No knock on Deron but nobody fears his jumpshot, so they don't play him as tight on the perimeter.  Deron also does not post up, that is where Kobe gets most of his FT attempts.  I doubt Deron will ever develop a post up game like Kobe so don't look for that stat to ever change.

ppsssh.
His parade to the line comes from an even # of outside jumpers whereupon he misses, drives breathed upon, etc.

Mostly from post ups... ::)

Let's also take into mind Kobe takes most of the technical shots, he is the person they get the ball into at crunch time knowing the team will foul, and he also happens to be the person who gets fouled the most on the Lakers squad when the other team is in the penalty.  Case in point, game 5 where he shot a bunch of FTs in the 4th quarter because they were over the limit and intentionally fouling him.

Kyle Korver shoots all the technical FTs when hes on the floor and he is also the person they want to get the ball into at crunch time.  Plus Deron attacks the rim but not always to score.  You don't get 10 dimes a game by just attacking the rim and not passing the ball off.

I find it interesting that despite playing more games than any other team that KG is not on the list.  And Pierce is so low...maybe that's the Celtics problem: lack of aggressive moves to the hole.

Well well well if it isn't Kobster Bryant with the most per game at 13.0
Course with his bad back causing limited mobility and all, he was limited to only 17 FTAs in Game 5.

A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.
