Will Shaq get help vs Yao tonight?
« on: April 01, 2004, 12:25:16 PM »
Only Jeff Van Grunty has been able to put a stop to Yaos offense vs Fatquile Oneal.
On the verge of going 5-1 vs Fats, Oneal and the Lakers were bailed out by Van Grunty in the 4th qtr of the last matchup.  So Yao is only 4-2 vs Oneal.  For now i won't post Yaos stats vs Oneal for you Krishna Squakers but do indeed give em a looksey.

However with the Mailcheap back and the Lakers finally having their sorely needed 4 HOFlamers to compete, perhaps Shaq will be able to cry "help" in English tonight so they can double or triple Yao.

FYI,

Shaq doesn't need help vs. Yao.  I know that's a reality that's hard for you to deal with.  Shaq outplays Yao in almost every single catagory except FT%.  Pull you head out of your asterisk and wath the game next time.

This season against each other:
Yao 26.7 points 9 rebounds
Shaq 24.7 points 8.7 rebounds

I won't help you pry your head out of your asterisk but I'm sure Randy will.
Pull on the rope and you might get some more help.

First off, learn to use the SIMPLE quote feature pendejo!

Based on your stats, why does Shaq need help with Yao?  What about the rest (i.e. FG%, blks, etc..), of the stats head to head?  It's been Francis or Mobely that have killed the Lakers lately anyway.

Yes i guess you weren't counting those minor stats like points and rebounds.
Yes indeed, do post fg% vs each other.

spare me the stats on# of times towel put on head, butt ugly face camera poses, # of sweat drops beading off forehead while being worked.

In stats Shaq leads Yao in practically every catagory except FT%.

Head to head, I'll take your word for it that you're posting accurate numbers.  I asked you a question based on YOUR stats, why have you avoided answering it?

Randy,

I mean WOW.

I got the stats from ESPN today.
I knew from watching the last 5 Flamers-Rockets games that Yao was ahead.

You make the claim of Shaq being ahead in all these *other* catagories, you produce them.

Points and rebs are huge when these two face off.  Plus Yao has plenty of assists to boot in the series.

Ahh once again you are trying to bend stats to fit what you believe is Reality.  Let me jump in here and point out the obvious......Yao scored most of his points the last 2 games when Shaq was not guarding him.  I know you watched the games too but choose to forget this very important piece of info.  So before you offer WoW help or make a comment he should pull his head out of his * I suggest you do the same.  I do find it very funny that you watched the games and knew this yet choose to ignore it like someone wouldnt call you on it.

Yao does not easily score on Shaq in the paint.  He either recieves a dish/lob from Francis or Mobley or he shoots a jumper away from Shaq's safe zone.  Again I know you watched the games so you should know this.

Nozers:

SHAQ VS. YAO IN 2003-04
Date
12/25  Shaq 22 pts, 10 rebs, 2 asts, 3 blk
Yao 18 pts, 8 rebs, 2 asts, 2 blks

2/11  Shaq 24 pts, 9 rebs, 4 asts, 4 blks
29 pts, Yao 11 rebs, 1 ast, 1 blk

3/3  Shaq 28 pts, 7 rebs, 1 ast, 5 blks
Shaq 33 pts, 8 rebs, 1 ast, 1 blk

Oh and Mr Step Away from the plate, if in the last game you think Yao got most of his points when Idol-Shrak wasn't in the game, thats bull.  Since you know you watched the game, or do you  :D how many points did your Idol-Shrak score when Yao was out? <_<

Randy-WOW  what question is it I am supposedly ignoring.

LOL @ You dodging the point.  Maybe you should be a balerina.  Yao got most of his points when Shaq WAS NOT guarding him.  Quit trying to dance around the point.  You saw the game and you know I am right.  I did not say 'Shaq wasnt in the game' I said when Shaq wasnt guarding him.  Good try tho.  You must have had your retard sandwiches for lunch today.  You seem to be extra special today.  How many times did Van Gundy bring Yao back in when Shaq went to the bench?

As for the amount of points Shaq scored when Yao was out.....What does it have to do with what we are talking about?  Van Gundy had everyone but Yao guard Shaq for 80% of the game.  Again, you saw the games so you should know this.

Tape has Yao for the reverse spin move on Shraq, fadeaway jumper on Shraq, Skyhook over Shraq, dunk on Shraq etc etc.

Leave the cult some day.
You need to believe it didn't happen for some religious reason.
So be it.

8 points....wow, out of what 31?  How many shots did he change because of Shaq? How many did he get blocked by shaq? More than 4 buddy.  If you have the tape in front of you then you know very well that Yao didnt guard Shaq for any length of time and Yao got a huge chunk of his points when Shaq was not on him.

Keep spinnin Reality O'Reily......youve got the tape go watch it.  As for the cult comment....unlike yourself I dont jump teams when I please.  Sorry.

Shaq vs. Yao

How centers have fared against each other

Date         Points                  Rebounds          Blocks             Winner
Dec. 25    O'Neal 22  Yao 18 O'Neal 10 Yao 8 O'Neal 3 Yao 2 Rockets by 12
Feb. 11     O'Neal 24 Yao 29  O'Neal 9 Yao 11 O'Neal 4 Yao 1 Rockets by 15
March 3    O'Neal 28 Yao 33  O'Neal 7 Yao 8   O'Neal 5 Yao 1 Lakers by 3

It looks to me that O'Neal had more points in the first game -- Yao in #2 & #3
It looks like Yao outrebounded Shaq in games #2 & #3, Shaq in game #1
Looks like Shaq beat up Yao in blocks in game #2 & #3 and won in game #1.
Yao's team beat the Lakers significantly in game #1 & #2 while the Lakers squeeked by in game #3.

As for the match-up, Shaq can't stop Yao offensively -- he can slow him down but the little sweeping hook is too high for Shaq to block -- Yao is at least 4 inches taller and his wing span is tremendous.  However, if you were actually watching the game, Yao ALWAYS had help d to guard Shaq -- in fact if you watched the game, Maurice Taylor spent as much time guarding Shaq as Yao did.  I didn't see the Lakers trying to find another way to play Yao -- but I did see the Rockets trying to find another way to play Shaq.  Hmmm. . . wonder why?
