Did you take into consideration that the Lakers just went on a 9 game road trip?  They were not home for about a month.

Wait that would require THINKING BEFORE YOU POST...my bad.

What did his post have to do with what any team did before this point in time?

And, why are you complaining about it?

Looks like a bunch of WC teams have already played the toughest part of their schedule while "others" have had a fluff schedule up till this point.  Looks like the first half of the scheduled was arranged all right, keeping teams in the hunt with an easy first half.  Older teams will have to struggle with B2B games, hope they make it into the playoffs.  I'm sure glad the Lakers got to play more games against sub .500 teams than everybody else, I think they played EC teams more than everybody else and they got a few NDBL games to boost their record as well.  ::)

I guess the reason certain teams have an easier 2nd half is because they had a tougher 1st half.  That would explain why certain teams are last in their division....oh wait...they are first....last in their conference.....oh wait...they are 2nd.....last in the league....oh wait...they are 4th in the league....uh oh we are fresh out of excuses......

NOW what?   :D

Right Reality and that is why they only play 2 more road games then the Lakers do.  Guess what?  At the end of the year they all play the same amount of home/road games lol

well, this is a fragment only of the REAL situation, so please add to you analysis:

SOS strength of schedule
current opp record

SOO strength of opponent
opp record at time of game

WSOO weighted strength of opponent
opp record weighted by how healthy the opp team was compared to 100%
(there IS a difference facing the Spurs with TD or without)

CWSOO complete weighted strength of opponent
takes additionally into account if the opp plays the front/back end of B2B, last 10 record, historical record vs team at a certain playing site over last 10 seasons as well as attendance (again compared to 100% capacity) and the so-called "rumor-factor", that is if opp players are mentioned in trade talks at the time of the game.

So the formula obviously has to be (SOS*(WSOO-SOO))/CWSOO for every game. Sum it up, divide it by games, and you get the SSF value (schedule so far), and then do it for the remaining games as well for the STC value. And logically, SSF/STC tells us if the team has a tough or easy road ahead.

Hope you get the real ranking done later tonight ...
 ;)

(i know, most of you realized that we wouldn'T have to play the remaining games of the season but could just calculate the final record and move onto the playoffs. But for heavens sake, guys we can'T do that. Stadiums need to be filled, TV schedules with  monster ad payments are looming, so let the players have their fun and break a sweat, even if we know the outcome ...)

Hollinger does it daily on the ESPN website.  Just look under playoff odds calculator.  Right now it will make Laker fans happy.

How do the Raps have a better shot at the finals than the Pistons or Magic?  Have the Raps been flying under the radar?

The better shot is based on his weird ranking calculation and then he sims the remainder of the season 5,000 times.  Why Raps end up with a higher chance is most likely random.

They have been flying under the radar mostly because they are in the same division as Boston.  And most people forget that they won that division last year.  Coangelo (sp) has done a good job as GM up there in Canada.

You mean going 13-17 to hit the playoffs?  That's if everyone stays exactly the same.  With the moves being made and all that a team could still get knocked out even if they finish with the records he projected they might not make it.  If the Lakers were 15 games over .500 and missed the playoffs that would be a joke.
