Reading is FUNdamental Reality.  I never said that EVERYONE thought initially it was right.  If you continued to read before you hit quote (this is where the thinking before you post comes in, TBYP) it says  "right thing to do after seeing what happened to Miami and what this team has become"

What are you making up now?

Lets pray for a Suns-Collusionists playoff matchup (with fair refs).

I'm glad you have finally seen the light in regards to not REPEATING the Suns-Collusionists playoffs.  Fair refs is something the Suns are praying for in light of last years collusion.

Notice the respondent and his answer In response to Laker Fan Dan:
Quote
Oh I know, Kobe can't do it by himself either, but he, unlike Shaq, is someone you can build a championship team around, just like the Heat built a championship team around Wade, not Shaq, those days for him are long gone, and Kobe, despite this horrible stretch they are going through right now, is still a legitimate superstar, someone who can anchor a team (Laker Fan Dan) .

Are you delusional?  The last I knew of, the count was:

Championships since 2002:

Shaq: 1

Kobe: 0

Plain and simple.  Kobe? "Someone you can build a championship team around"?!...ROTFLMAO

More:
Substitute 'Lakers' for 'Eagles' and 'O'Neal' for 'Garcia', and this is how all-too-many Lakers fans feel about the LAL.  I was at Matt & Tony's sandwich shop (the best, IMHO) the other day listening to some of the patrons discussing Lakers-related tidbits...of course, because I was wearing an "O'Neal 34" Lakers jersey they had to start talking good stuff about 'The Daddy', knowing a 'True Believer' was in earshot...LOL  Anyway, the point is that even the most psycho Kobe-fan admits that the LAL were a hundred times better with #34 than without him...and no one in NBA history plays to the crowd like 'The Big Historical'.

This is the perfect place for O'Neil, not where he will be relied on as a primary scorer night in and out, but as a role player- a specialist for the end of the half and the end of the game where he will be the go to guy and post up.  This will make it impossible for other teams to defend the Suns.  You can't double Shaq, because you need players to prevent Stoudamire from driving and Nash from passing to them both.  One way or another, the Suns will be able execute successfully in the half-court and should be able to still run away from teams while Shaq cheers from the bench.

The Suns had no choice.  They've been trying to run through the playoffs for years and couldn't get it done.  Now they will try to pound their way into the finals, just like Miami did.
rick,
Shaq was on the floor in the 4th qtr for the at least the last halfs of 3 of 4 wins of the Heats 2006 Championship finals vs the Mavs.  While true Dwade did most of the scoring, I see where you wrote Shaq can and will be "not where he will be relied on as a primary scorer night in and out, but as a role player"
Indeed in Gm 3 and facing elimination as they trailed by 10 in the 4th, Shaq indeed played and shotputted in his only two FT attemps to pull the Heat within 93-90 with less then 2 min to play.
You've got to understand most Lakers and all Laker board posters are programmed to watch glory ball.  They do not understand role players.
The Shaq haters/Krishnas are still carrying a torch and trying to justify the stoopid Laker trade in any way shape or twist they can.
Truth be told Shaq definitely contributed to the Heats win and I hear what you are saying re his potential role with Phx.
Lets pray for a Suns-Collusionists playoff matchup (with fair refs).

Umm, let's see -- the series proved that the Heat could win without Shaq -- the series also proved that it couldn't win without Wade.  So who was riding on who's coattails?  I was glad to see the Lakers trade Shaq -- his lack of shape and drive cost the Lakers the championship against the Pistons (when Ben Wallace ran him all over the court, outhustled him to every ball, etc.).  He was in worse shape when he kept screaming "give me my money" and it wouldn't have gotten better.

Bottom line -- it's going to KILL you to watch the Lakers win a title with Kobe!  But I sure am going to enjoy it!!!

Sure they will..Sternfish is going to make sure that Benga takes out Tim Duncan only to clear the bench of Nob and FinDawg so they get suspended for a key game.

I disagreed with RB then and I think he would say (if he were here today) that it has worked out favorably for the Lakers.  I actually don't speak for him -- I actually speak for me.  It is a common mistake made by bandwagoneers that all fans of a particular team think alike -- this mistake occurs because bandwagon fans don't do a lot of actual thinking about the latest team that they've jumped onboard with -- usually it's a lot of thumping of the chest, ranting and raving and nonsensical posts that TRUE fans of the particular team disdain.  As a Laker fan, I can remembery the bandwagon fans in the midst of our championship runs -- I can only pass my condolances on to Lurker, SpursX3, Spurs101 as they strive to deal with the fans who hoop and holler like a real fan without the substance of one.  Sorry guys!

Randy,

One thing you need to be made aware of is the documentary "Bandwagon Migration", it originally aired on The Discovery Channel and has been featured on ESPN8.  In short, thousands of bandwagon fans were tagged with depleated uranium tracking devices after MJ's first retirement to track their migration patters through Houston, Chicago, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Detroit and Miami.  Unfortunately some subjects jumped so far and so often that the trackers lost contact with them and did not have the chance to remove the tracking device.  The tracking devices are supposed to be removed after 5 years or they begin to leak and cause brain damage and dementia.

I think this will clarify many things for this board.

Exactly what is there to own up about? What I said still stands.  You are posting something RB said LONGGGGG before the Miami Heat went on this awesome 9-40 journey prior to the Shaq trade.  He hasn't even posted here since the Miami Heat got tossed aside by the Chicago Bulls.

lol @ you doing what you did with Lurker and providing dated information thinking you made a point.

Uh, Rick, did you watch the Miami championship?  Wade was Mr Crunch for them.  A small thing called Hack-a-Shaq neutralizes Shaq in the final minutes.  And "pounding the ball into Shaq" takes the ball out of your best player's (Nash) hands.

And I saw an interesting question...as an opposing coach do you have a player foul Shaq in the backcourt to stop a Suns fast break?

LOL!  Hack-A-Shaq was employed in Shaq's PRIME!  Put the ball in Shaq's hands in crunch time?  Somebody has been living in a cave for the last 8 years.  Crunch time Shaq for the Lakers meant having Shaq inbound the ball and stay out of bounds in the hope that the opposing teams would forget you could still fould him and send him to the FT line.  It got to the point that crunch time OFFENSE meant putting Shaq on the bench.  Can we purchase a clue on EBay or something?

Why don't you get a clue- in the last 2 minutes, the team can put someone else on the line for Shaq!  Or, did you forget the NBA made that rule after seeing Shaq getting fouled deliberately.

Not if the ball is in his hands like you stated in your original post....
