Derek,

Typically you are pretty good about your facts but your errors in this post are obvious and border on idiotic!

MLB players get paid much less in their early years than do NBA players.  A #1 pick in baseball would get a $2 to $3 million bonus, and then the first 2 years at the major league level they will may about league minimum.  Starting in year 3 they get increase, generally starting at $1 to $2 million. and reaching about $10 million by year 6.  This does not include minor league pay either which is maybe $2000 a month.  NBA players also when they sign max money deals get escalators, of 10% (or 12.5%) a year for the term of the deal, and that is how they get paid so much.  Start out at $12 million a year, and get a raise of $1,500,000 a year for 6 years. They then start their next contract at about $18 million per year and get huige raise after that.  Overall the average NBA salary is twice MLB, and the top 25 in the NBA will probably get paid a little more than MLB.  MLB though has a much greater number of players making $5 million to $10 million.

Think about that.
$24,300 on gas at $3/gallon is 8,100 gallons,
at say 14 miles per gallon, that is 113,400 miles per month.
At an average of 35 miles per hour, then he is spending 3,240 hours driving or being driven every month.
Divide 3,240 hours by 24 hours a day, and that is 135 days.
Average 30 days a month, and that is 4-1/2 cars running 24 hours per day 365 days a year.
