What are your favorite Zo moments?
« on: December 26, 2007, 11:35:14 AM »
In celebration of his great career I wanted to make a thread about your favorite Zo moments and have people contribute.  I think the guy is a great competitor and the way he went out only makes me respect him more.

So what are your favorite Alonzo Mourning moments?  Whether its a certain play, comment, or big game let's hear it.  Youtube links welcome!

My fav Zo moment was the 1st round game vs Princeton in his freshmen year.  It was No 1 GTown vs No 16 Princeton and Princeton played them down to the wire despite being incredibly over matched.  Zo came into GTown with HUGE expectations and he didn't disappointe with the game SAVING block of a 3 point shot.  Princeton had executed their game plan near perfection, got a wide open look at a game winning shot but Zo closed the gap and blocked the shot.

His game vs the undefeated defending champs UNLV was also and incredible game, he had some great moments going toe to toe with Shaq early on in their careers.

I can't say I remember any particular play from Zo...I am sure there are several good ones.

But I will always remember him trying to participate in the Knicks/Heat playoff fight with Van Gundy hanging on his leg like a lovesick puppy.   ;D

Calling an Israeli player a Kike while at Georgetown.  Blatantly pouting his way out Toronto.  The bloated ego wars during his time in Charlotte.  Losing in the first round with the number 1 seed.

Seriously he was a great player and I'm glad he was able get back to such a high level after his health problems.

LOL!!   Gotta call people on things they've done.  I was speaking more on basketball plays themselves but I like the post coming out of left field!

After seeing the video of him wrecking his knee just to challenge a shot thus ending his career I thought I would make this thread.  Most guys come into the league and don't work hard from the jump.  Zo could have easily gave the hoop to the player but he had to play hard regardless of his age.

I can't find the video for the one where he hit the last second shot in the playoffs against Boston, and was just laying on the floor with his arms held out in triumph.  (McHale's last game.)  That's probably the highlight I'll most remember, though.
