How good are Farve and Peyton Mannings backups?
« on: November 30, 2007, 01:54:16 AM »
Ha!  I was just thinking of this the other day and now low and behold we got to see Green Bays backup Aaron Rodgers on the big stage.
I thought he played very well vs Dallas.  Only disappointing drive (a key one) was the three and out after they pulled within 27-24 with the ball back after MeOwens caught then flopped the ball to a Packer for an endzone INT.  < did you catch that  ;D

Indy Colts Jim Sorgi and he have similiar careers thusfar.
Both 3* seasons (Sorgi rookie 2004 but missed a year to injury.  Rodgers 2005 rookie.)
Both backups to HOFs thus very little playingtime.  Well, until now for Rodgers.

Did Sorgi get some starts in 2005?  Did well, passer rating 99.1
Colts think enough of Sorgi to have extended him this year for 3 more till 2010.
But will we ever know how they would do as an NFL starter for a full season?   Rodgers you would think sooner, as Farve is near the end of his career or is he?  Sorgi ays he has learned a ton from Manning, i would think Rodgers says the same.
