Rumor: Vick drama may involve a top 5 NBA player
« on: July 26, 2007, 11:42:40 AM »
Heard on the radio, the Howard Stern show of all places, that a source is claiming that a top 5 NBA player's name has shown up in the Vick dog fighting scandal.

Again, total rumor, but I wonder who that might be.  A top 5 NBA player is a matter of opinion but I would guess it would be an All Star at least.  Any guesses if this rumor where true.  Iverson comes to mind, thug life wanna be.

You know if any of what the Stern show said was true, Iverson would be a candidate.  Altho other quotes have said Vick is just the tip of the iceberg as far as pro atheletes and dog fighting.

After A.I.s "keep yo head up, we bes a victim all da times.  I don'ts know why, it be because people thinks we rich and we be above the law." -que photograph with the sullen "we be victim" look- he is a candidate for sure.

Like I said, who really knows if the guy is top 5 or not, but I would expect he's at least an all star IF the rumor is true.

 :D
Good point.
If taken literally we'd be looking at
TD
Lebron
DWade
KG
GNobili

And the Laker posters having Kobe 1-5.

My money's on Wade. He's not far away from Vick, and even though he's not exactly a gangsta balla, his mostly clean image would make for big news. I'm guessing it won't be a Stephen Jackson type, but somebody who's going to be a shocker.

LOL @ Gnob being a top 5 player and Kobe not.

My bet is going on Wade or Lebron.

Funny, Jackson came to mind but he's not even an all star.  I would never of guessed Wade.

The other news comming from the Vick trial is that they are going to file "superceeding" (sic?) charges against Vick, meaning what they are going to file are stronger charges with stronger penalties.  Not a rumor, actual news comming from the courthouse.

My bet would be KG before these 2 guys, only because KG played HS ball in that area, or he came from that area.  Could also be Jermaine O'Neal as well, though obviously not a top 5 kinda guy, he is close to top 5 in salary.

AI's from Virginia, so he'd be the likely candidate.  Being from the Northeast, I'm not redneck, and would never attend a dog-fighting event.  I find the whole idea contemptible.  What a terrible way to find some entertainment in life!

Any of you want to take the other side of this argument?

This society is sick with an attachment to violence! We are assaulted on television and in the movies with excessive amounts.  It seems we've become so desensitized to it, that we accept more and more as being within the realm of the normal or acceptable.

What kinds of values do people have within themselves that they accept this kind of programming?  Not to mention the values of those who produce it!

Having lived in the northeast my entire life, there are certainly rednecks in parts.

This guy is far from a top 5 guy, maybe he was drafted top 5 or something.  Since I heard the rumor on Sirius I haven't heard a peep about who the guy might be.  It might even be a retired NBA guy...anyway...saw this tidbit when reading about players considering a comeback ala Reggie, Houston and Penny.

"Woods would come under closer-than-ever scrutiny if he does make it back to the NBA because of the unavoidable tie-in to Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. Woods was released by Portland after pleading guilty to animal-abuse charges stemming from accusations in 2004 that he was pitting pit bulls against each other in dog fights."

I'd pay good money to see him implicate Tim Donaghy.  It's just the sick, twisted kind of person I am.
