Faith Hill-Tim McGraw song
« on: June 11, 2007, 08:22:03 PM »
Country music marketing question.
Pretty cool song with great background music.  The voices are okay altho Faith Hill going out of her natural voice to do the quirky Loretta Lynn obviously faked accent is annoying but i can still enjoy the song.  The lyrics, i cannot stand parts of them.
Question, were the writers manipulated by cig and alcho manufacturers, or have good ole county bois been drinkin and smokin since Magellan discovered the USA?  Especially cig moreso then alcho producers.  No cig or alcho manufactures influence in this song whatsoever?
If you're a greenhorn to the cig and alcho manufactures manipulating, it's huge!  One tiny example, remember when Guns N Roses were the rage in the early 90s.  Phillip Morris paid up the behind for Slash to be seen constantly with one of their smokes.

The line that really stikes me is:  I wanna smell that sweet addiction on my breath

I Need You
(Tim) I wanna drink that shot of whiskey
I wanna smoke that cigarette
I wanna smell that sweet addiction on my breath
I wanna ride across West Virginia in the back seat of a Cadillac
You know some cowboys like me go out like that
So I need you
Like a needle needs a vein
Like my uncle Joe in Oklahoma needs a rain
And I need you
Like a lighthouse needs the coast
Like the Father and the Son need the Holy Ghost
I need you
(Faith) I wanna get lost in some corner booth,
Cantina Mexico
I wanna dance to the static of an AM radio
I wanna wrap the moon around us, lay beside you skin on skin
Make love til the sun comes up, til the sun goes down again
Cause I need you
Like a needle needs a vein
Like my uncle Joe in Oklahoma needs a rain
I need you
Like a lighthouse needs the coast
Like the Father and the Son need the Holy Ghost
I need you, Oh I need you

(Tim) I wanna drink that shot of whiskey
I wanna smoke that cigarette
You know some cowboys like me go out like that
So I need you
I need you I need you I need you I need you I nee-ed you
