Yeah same criteria applied with one big, giant, huge difference.

Chaucey Billups and Flip Saunders are absolutely in love with each other and this goes back to Billups' Minnesota days.  Quite a different story with Flip and BenWa.

Not to mention Chicago had cap room (whereas the Lakers have the MLE).  Ben Wallace got 16 million reasons to go to Chicago.  If Chauncey "takes a pay cut", he'd have to go down to 5 million.

But other than that, it's the same thing.

ouch, i stand corrected lurker.

So it even further begets the question of w-h-y did the Lakeshow decide to keep Radman and his 6 mil a year till 2011 or so contract?  Crazy.  I'm glad he was shown mercy and i hope he is appreciative of it but from a hoop and business standpoint, what are Phil and the Lakers thinking?

What can they offer Rashard Lewis.  Same thing, only 5 mil MLE?

Reality,

Yup - only the MLE (about $5 million) for ANYONE - or they have to do a sign-and-trade.  Maybe Seattle would S&T Rashard Lewis for Lamar Odom plus others and picks, but Detroit won't do that with Billups.

Joe,
Yeah, i had envisioned bookend versatile Forwards of Odom and Rahard Lewis to help begin the return of the Purple n Gold to title contention.  But that was with Bynum and if neccessary Kwame Brown in the middle.  Not sure that shipping Odom and picks doesn't keep them in spin tires mode.

Hey Lakers, would Chris Mihm have been a big help this year and next.
As for next season, i don't think Mihm is effective after the surgeries but.....

Mihm is irrelevant - he's a free agent.  If the Lakers wanted to get something out of him, they should have traded him before the trade deadline.

He's irrelevant because honestly he wasn't even that great of a player before the surgery.  Very inconsistent.

Bottom line...why would Chauncey leave a contender for a team that barely makes the playoffs over the past 2 seasons?

Ben Wallace didn't leave for money he left cuz of Flip...

So don't you mean that Pistons are going to throw a Mike Fratello at him?

And Lurker has been wrong many times...especially all those years he picked the Spurs over the Lakers (cheap shot at a Spurs fan for good ol times sake)

Easier to take when your team is playing instead of fishing.   ;D

Fishing?  In L.A. you pay dirty Mexicans 2 dollars to fish for you!

Whereas in SA you over pay white people from overseas to work. You can get Nacho from Anaheim to play Manu's position for a quarter of the price.  Don't even get me started on how much more tough Lil Smiley would be in the post over Flabs.

No wonder the Lakers are out after one round...they don't have to face the shame of early fishing personally.  I guess that leaves more time for Kobe to go beaver hunting in Colorado.

Dan,

You missed the "s", I did say MexicanS.  I pay them a TOTAL of 2 dollars, 1 dollar each, for their .99 cent burrito.  Plus cause they are in America they are responsible for the tax on their .99 cent burritos, so actually I'm doing better on payroll than you!   :P
