As far as addressing the issue...you just list the entire litany of players they have tried to groom as a replacement for Bruce.  And obviously they are all now superstars for their respective teams...so Pop needs to take lessons from some other GM.  Maybe Ainge or Thomas could give him lessons on how to build a championship team.  

 
The Scola thing has been a real bust.  In chasing Jason Kidd they passed on Josh Howard.  Maybe Pop could take some lessens from Avery J and the Mavs GM.  Lord knows he did last year.

Bowen still is the best defender at the 3 but he is slowly becoming...well slower then the talent coming in.  Obviously that is totally understandable. The talent is always going to be young and Bowen is always going to age.

And the Spurs acknowledge that.  They have tried various players as eventual replacements.  Either they don't stick around or can't outplay Bowen.  Either way Pop isn't going to put a lesser player on the court.  James White (see Reality's jock sniffing thread earlier) is the latest in that line.

Not that I need to rain in on your 'im a bigger fan then you are life long spurs fan lurker' parade but....

In 2003 there was no reason for them to upgrade at the 3 and get Josh Howard because Bowen was in top form then.  On top of it, knowing the Spurs and Pop they are going to play the great defender over a kid (at the time) who had potential to be a solid second/third option scorer on a good squad.

The same thing happened to Devin Brown, he was a scorer but he wasn't the defender the Spurs needed to control the tempo of games.

Yes.  They CONTRIBUTED.  They WERE ROLE PLAYERS; NOT STARTERS.  That doesn't diminish their contributions it just realizes that they wouldn'ty have been as successful if they played more minutes and a lesser player took their roles.

Horry & Malik don't belong in this conversation about athletic swing players.  Jackson is such an outstanding player that he keeps switching teams.  Devin Brown wasn't even invited back to camp after accepting more money to play elsewhere.  These are the guys you want in place of Bowen??

Bob Horry 27 minutes in 2005 probably aint gonna be the same in 2007.  If Horry ressurects, great.

Yeah, in 2003 and 2005 I would rather have these guys playing in addition to Bowen playing.
As opposed to Mike Finley playing power forward, or even SF.  Fins did fine as SG vs Dallas but can't guard Dirk or Howard.  Who can?
