Christie has no 'street cred'

Hey Reality!!!

There were a couple of article on Christie in the LAT:

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-cliprep1feb01,1,7540109.column

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-simers1feb01,1,1307252.column

The second article by LAT sports columnist (and resident curmudgeon) P.J. Simers made me wonder about something - why do some sports stars like to drag their woman along with them (or worse yet, she just shows up anyway).  There are always a few players whose wives become part of the mix somehow - Kobme, Glen Rice and Jason Kidd immediately come to mind.  This in general is not a good thing, BTW!  In 90% of the cases, it seems that once the wives start getting notoriety on their own, it's all over for the player and the team.

P.S - For fun, I thought I'd throw that in about 'street cred' - something that used to get mentioned quite a bit here a while back.  To me, how 'ghetto' one is is of no significance whatsoever.

RB,

One would think it would be good to take wives along but you are correct, sure has been some doozies.  As to the Christies and that movie, even the She being the He was done in jest, it's a planet i just don't reside on.  Mr Christie is allowed to ride on the team plane?  Is that standard for all wives, just that most don't?  Seperate team charter for the wives?

Kobmes wife is hardly to blame IMO, sure seemed like the Mailman was wayy out of bounds on that one.
Jason Kidd and wife.  Scary.  Somebody ain't telling the truth at all in that one.  When the word was she didn't want to join the Spurs and thus their offer turned down, i knew he was a whipped dog.  Kidd would have been fabulous for the Spurs, and i love Tony Parkers game.

Glen Rice can't remember her.

Haven't seen Christie play yet.  If healthy he comes at a good time for the Clips, Megettes knees allegedly sore.
James Singleton is being squeezed out by Dunleavy.
