First I have some suggestions we might need to discuss.

#1 There is a whole crap-load of good players out their on the waiver wire.  Players that need to be on rosters.  I liked that we upped to 14 rounds last year and really want to go 16 or even imitate real life, 15.

#2 We need a few more active roster spots to offset the off-day (thursday-sunday) advantage.  In my first week I play LTTK and will have a tough time beating him since I have no one going on Thurs or Sun while he has like 6 guys going.  More active roster spots will allow people to make use of their players on those weeks when all your guys play the same 3 days so the off-day advantage isn't as great.  It places more importance on the late late part of the draft and less importance on willy-nilly adding/dropping because your last couple of rounds were throw-away picks.  This ties back in suggestion #1 since their will be less good players for people who play the wire game to fill in those off-days.

Okay onto some draft analysis
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Archangel

I liked my draft even though by all accounts my main strategy was completely destroyed when Derek used the 7th pick on Yao Ming and Ted used the 8th pick on Andrei Kirilenko.  Two players that together with Gerald Wallace would've been awesome synergy.  With the players I ended up with like Hamilton, Pierce, Szserbiak, Nash, and Korver; Wallace becomes an odd fit to my team and doesn't fit as well as Artest would've.  If Murphy doesn't become a Center, I'm very weak at the postion.

Great Steal: Randolph (7th) or Szcserbiak (9th)

Depending on Szcserbiak's balky knee (bone on bone makes me cringe) it could be either but I'm really looking for great production out of Randolph, if his head ain't screwed on straight, my front line goes from average to bad!

Worst Reach: Keeping Gerald Wallace

Would've worked great with players like AK-47, Yao, Jermaine O'Neal, Josh Smith, etc., in other words none of the players I got.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wolverine

An absolutely dominant draft at the top much like last year only this time, he continued with a strong mid draft (Bogut, Jefferson, Roy) and found some gems late (Curry, Jack).  This starting lineup:  Billups, J. Johnson, Jefferson, Brand, D. Howard, B. Roy is in my humble opinion the most well-rounded complete starting lineup in the league.  A well-balanced team that has no glaring weakness, this team should strongly contend for the championship.

Great Steal: Too many to name but I'll go with Brand (3rd)

I think that 6 people should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for passing up Elton Brand.  The three players that should've gone before him: LeBron, Nowitzki, Garnett and that's it.

Worst Reach: Eddie Jones (8th)

Every year I call him a reach and every year I'm wrong.  I do know one thing, the way his numbers trended down every single month of last season worries me and worries me big time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jerry Lewis

A lot of nice players and any team with the studly LeBron James is a contendor.  I liked Jerry Lewis 1st half of the draft:  James, J. Howard, Hinrich, C. Butler, and D. West.  His second half was questionable with picks like Diogu, Harris, and Kenny Thomas.  With Wilcox and Diogu, the C position is weak.

Great Steal:  David West (7th)

How in the name of all that is good does the only legitimate front court scoring threat on the Hornets (17 and 8 type player) who shoots 84% from the line fall to the 7th round.  I'm flabbergasted!

Worst Reach: Danny Granger (8th)

There sure is a lot of forwards in Indiana now that Harrington is there.  You can slide JO to Center when Foster/Harrison aren't playing but that still leaves Harrington, Jackson, Granger, Williams, White, and maybe Daniels.  I don't know that Granger sees enough time to produce but I like the player.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LTTK

With each pick, LTTK stuck another dagger through my chest.  Davis, Miller, Mobley, Turkoglu, Crawford, Gomes all beautiful picks that were made.  The one problem with the team, imbalance.  Ben Wallace is the only C eligible player he has.  The good news, he has great trade bait.

Great Steal:  Cuttino Mobley (9th)

Yeah people keep saying Mobley is the odd-man out with Cassel, Livingston, Ross, and Maggette.  People are dead wrong!  Mobley is a great scorer and a good defender and Dunleavy knows a glue guy when he sees one.  Mobley is also the picture of consistency.

Worst Reach:  Josh Smith (5th)

People call him the next Andrei Kirilenko.  I have to see it for a FULL season before I believe it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wetbacks

Another guy who I was repeatedly thefted by.  In the first year of participation, Miguel accused me of stealing his draft sheet well this year he SURE returned the favor.  Dirk Nowitzki was an incredible pick, Baron Davis was high on my list, Okur was very high on my list.  Miguel put together an incredible team.  Well rounded, well balanced and gets a lot of odd categories from weird positions and will absolutely dominate a few categores at ALL positions.  Just a great team and a championship contendor

Great Steal:  Mehmet Okur (5th)

With Okur's production in 75 games, you are looking at perhaps the best Center in all of Fantasy Basketball.  Before you fall out of your chair laughing, name one thing he is bad at.

Great Reach:  Shelden Williams (8th)

A great draft with an absolutely HORRIBLE pick smack dab in the middle of it.  Miguel, this may be the worst pick any one of us made.  Not because I think Shelden is a stiff now and forever but because he could've been had much MUCH later.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...I have to get some sleep tonight. :D

I'll review the remaining 7 teams tomorrow.

Here is my quick take on my own draft and things that I thought id speak about from the draft...

My grade: C-

The reason being it was a C- is because I gambled on a few players who I am going to hope shake off the injury bug NOW and not later (Jermaine O'Neal, Tracy McGrady, Rahim)  If  T-Mac and O'Neal  could get healthy somewhat quickly and play at the level they are capable to play at then I should be in decent shape.  The other part is I felt I jumped the gun on where I grabbed some players, especially the ones mentioned above due to injury.  T-Mac was not actually the pick I wanted at that point in the draft.  I happened to be setting up my que incase I had to leave as I was at work.  Then there were a few questionable picks that I had because I was scrambling to decide in the later rounds.  I really did not do much thinking outside of my core guys and that is going to hurt.   Thanks to Zigs though  I was able to keep Chris Paul and Brad Miller.  So I think I have a decent squad.  The gambling man in myself had me take guys that could either make me or break me.

Sleeper pick: Fabs in the 14th I believe.  WHAT A STEAL! jk...IMO I think my sleeper pick (although I think I got him a little high again, rookie GMs sheesh) is Chris Kaman.  I feel that the Clippers are going to have another solid season and with Kaman improving a good deal last year I think he can continue that trend.

Random takes on other peoples drafts:

Right off the top I am totally going to approach drafts much differently from this year on out.  I really learned alot watching what our resident pro fantasy ball players were picking and when.

David West was a really good pick up.  He played very well last year so I am suprised that he went half way into the draft.  Even though he was a quality player last year he was not someone who popped up into my head until I had seen the pick.

Zo so late in the draft was GREAT.  I predict that there will be  at least 15 games where Zo will get heavy minutes and tip the scales in Wolvys favor  :D

Another guy that I felt could be a  good late pick was Eddy Curry.  Call it blind fandom but I am just itching to see a year when he gets a fire lit under his rear end and starts playing at a high level.

This is going to be exciting and probably the most fun ill have playing fantasy ball.  The teams look pretty balanced and like I mentioned I really learned alot.  You guys are much better Fantasy Ball players then you might think.  I've played with a few different sets of people and you guys are by far the scariest bunch.

I'm going with the que brain fart as well.  I even asked about how NBA.com picks in "Auto" cause I had a bunch of players qued up but they were getting picked left and right.  I had some sleepers in the que, Williams being one of them, so I wouldn't forget about them in the later rounds.  I was debating about Darko, Mobley, Livinston, Granger, Harrington and Prince.  I was leaning towards Mobely when I noticed that Williams had been auto picked.

I'm pretty happy with my draft, I only got shafted a couple of times, I got guys were I realistically expected to get them.  I was happy to get Magette but I thought I would be able to get Krstic, Darko and Livinston.  Krstic was the one I really wanted but some bum took him ahaed of me.

In all honesty the only pick that might cost me my season is letting Fabs slip through my fingers.  Dam!  Dam you all to hell!

I'm just glad he didn't get stuck with another 2-guard.  Kobe was there and we were all thinking, "uh-oh, it might happen again to poor Jerry"  Luckily, he got Shawn Marion, a very underrated fantasy player and the top fantasy performer for 2 out of the last 3 years.  He did still end up with a very guard-heavy team which I think is a good thing, but I'm just not sure on some of the early selections made in Alston and Brewer.  He got Shaq late but reached for Jackie Butler who if he wins the job over Elson might be worth it; still, those two as the only C-eligible is pretty thin.

Great Steal:  Luke Ridnour (11th)

I was tempted to go with Shaq in the 5th but Ridnour this late is amazing.  Yeah Watson will be nipping at his heels and taking time away but Ridnour contributes in ALL guard categories and does so very well.  I also think the competition with Watson will make him better.

Worst Reach:  Vladimir Radmanovic (6th)

I like the categories Radman gets you at the PF spot but his rebounding has gone from adequate to bad the last couple years and the one thing he does truly well (shoot from range) he hasn't thus far in the pre-season.  I think this hand-injury thing is bothering him and how he does in the triangle is very important (is he Kukoc or is he Longley with range).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lurker

While Lurker has a very well-balanced team, it is a very risky team.  Okafor, Boozer, Stoudemire, Hughes, Simmons, J. Williams--not exactly the picture of health.  While Artest and S. Jackson (The Brawling Twins) aren't exactly the picture of sanity.  If this team remains healthy and sane.  Watch Out!!  Otherwise it might be another long season for our resident Lurker.

Great Steal:  Larry Hughes (9th)

If Larry gives you 70 games, his contribution across the board is incredible value in the 9th round.  Now thats a big if but I think Hughes is really due for a healthy year and getting him in the 9th reduces the risk factor considerably.

Worst Reach:  Keeping Okafor or Amare Stoudemire (3rd)

With players like Tim Duncan, Elton Brand, Kobe Bryant, heck even Yao Ming still on the board why do you go for Amare this early (especially when you've already kept 2 bigs).  There was a good chance he could've made it back to him in the 4th and if not--Trade for him and get something out of it.  I have to see Amare sustain great play for the duration before I'll believe he's all the way back and the news out of Phoenix hasn't been exactly cheery.  The Amare pick would also have made more sense had he kept Vince Carter instead of Okafor.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Randy (The Loosiers)

Iverson, Parker, Kobe, and J. Childress.  I have just named all the guard-eligible players that Randy has on the roster.  I like ALL of them but there is just 4 of them.  Much like LTTK, great roster but a little imbalanced.  His frontline is devastating with the likes of Anthony, Harrington, Odom, Gooden, Ilgauskas, and I think Mohammad will pay off huge dividends.

Great Steal:  Lamar Odom (4th)

Odom is just a fantasy beast, an absolute monster.  Percentages, threes, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, he does it all and does it better than you think.  If his FT% climbed in the high 70s, he is keeper material every year!

Worst Reach:  Tyson Chandler (7th)

Much like Stromile Swift, Eddy Curry, and Samuel Dalembert we've been waiting for Chandler to explode it seems like for the last decade.  With the likes of Randolph, Frye, Krstic, etc. still out there this reach didn't need to be made.  But hey, this could be the year......again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bods Ballers

With Bods, you always expect savvy drafting, calculated risks (especially w/ rookies), sly maneuvering, and the end product is always a well-rounded roster that can compete against anyone in any category.  Now until this year he managed to do all this while largely staying away from my players.  NOT SO this draft.  He took Yao and I screamed YOooOOoow!!  Up and down this roster, their are no glaring weaknesses at any position and tremendous upside on the bench.

Great Steal:  Andre Iguodala (6th)

Across the board producer with very low risk and extremely huge upside.  Also helps that this is Bods type of player and on his favorite team.  I don't think Iverson duplicates his numbers and I don't think Webber stays healthy again which all adds up to Iggy Hop taking off.

Worst Reach:  Stromile Swift (10th)

I have my questions whether Charlie V is 5th round calibre but Stromile takes it because he's Stromile: unmotivated, unintelligent, and unworthy.  This is a guy I don't want on my roster.  Gooden, Haslem, and Marshall - all PFs taken later in round 10 will prove better value than Swift.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ted Bops

Usually I'm lukewarm about Ted's drafts and I was dead on the first year, pretty close the next, and completely wrong last year.  Well I wasn't lukewarm this year, I was screamin' HOT!!  AK-47, the bedrock foundation of my team for as long as I've known fantasy basketball, brutally and savagely ripped from me as I helplessly watched the horror.  Ted than proceeded to have an outstanding draft.  A strong team that perhaps might be a bit skimpy at the 2-guard position.  Ted built on strength and has another championship contendor on his hands.

Great Steal:  Stephon Marbury (5th)

Here is a guy I knew would fall in the draft and end up being a great steal.  Isiah is going to play his golden child 40 minutes and let his golden child do whatever his golden child wants to do.  This equals humongous fantasy numbers from the self-proclaimed "Starbury".

Worst Reach:  J.R. Smith (7th)

With the chance to do something special on a Denver BADLY in need of a 2-guard, he's done nothing but try to lose what Denver is trying to throw him during the course of pre-season, the starting job.

Sidenote:  Ted, you have unnatural man-love for Nene Hilario!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Wankstas

The rookie managed to have himself a pretty good draft all things considered.  Brad Miller and Chris Paul are great starting spots and he paired them nicely with Jermaine O'Neal and Tracy McGrady.  He has a well-balanced team with strong starters but depth remains a question as he reached for quite a few of his guards.

Great Steal:  Marvin Williams (11th)

An absolutely awesome pickup.  I had Marvin queued up and ready to go with my pick as Westkoast reached in and swooped him off.  Marvin destroyed people in summer leagues, continued strong performances in pre-season and has risen above Atlanta's un-ending staple of Forwards all while holding Shelden Williams back.  This year he'll prove why he was chosen 2nd overall last year in the real Draft.

Worst Reach:  Shareef Abdur-Rahim (6th)

I LIKE Shareef Abdur-Rahim but the reality is he is in a timeshare with Kenny Thomas (selected in the 13th round) and with chuckers like Artest and Bibby with Brad Miller sure to get his, the shots are spread thin as it is.  This is a guy you want on your roster, you just don't want spend this much for him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The (venerable) Polar Bears

Well, Joe, I'd love to say I left the best for last but I think we all know I'd be lying. :D  In the first year I was underwhelmed by Joe's Draft, he won the championship.  In the second year I was a bit underwhelmed by Joe's Draft, he dominated the regular season.  In the third year, I dubbed his draft the strongest one in the league, he had his worst year (a 1st round ouster after barely sneaking into the playoffs).  That being said....I'm a bit underwhelmed by Joe's Draft.  So he should absolutely dominate!  He's well-rounded and strong at every position but depth remains a question especially with Gasol out until January and the uneasiness of the Toronto lineup.  The roster is full of jacks of all trades.

Also in perfect Joe Vancil fashion:  I'm waiting for that time in the season when someone will offer him Lamar Odom or Mehmet Okur for Randy Foye, and Joe won't be able to hit the "accept" button fast enough.

Great Steal:  Tayshaun Prince (9th)

Joe had an unusually strong late draft and got premium value at low prices but I think Tayshaun will be his biggest steal.  A player in the mold of Battier who fits hand in glove with the Detroit system, a well rounded player, and most importantly Joe's type of guy who he'll know how to use.

Worst Reach:  Andrea Bargnani (8th)

Foye in the 6th may prove to be a bigger reach but I'm high on the opportunity he has their.  Convention says Toronto will give time to their #1 pick and appease Colangelo by catering to his golden boy but Sam Mitchell has never been one for convention.  Bargnani is in roster nightmare and he'll need to develop quickly to earn the time he's going to need to produce for Joe at an 8th round level.  At Best:  Your looking at a poor man's Mehmet Okur.  At Worst:  Your looking at a poor man's Vladimir Radmanovic.  Joe hopes its the former.

Actually, in Bargnani, I'm hoping for a poor man's Keith Van Horn.  I like Bargnani because he has a chance to make a mark in the "odd-ball" categories at Power Forward.  Since Troy Murphy was gone and Rasheed Wallace was kept, I figured I'd gamble on Bargnani.  And if preseason is any indicator, it looks like a good gamble.

OK I will offer an outsiders perspective.

I thought Derek and WOW had very good drafts, as did Caleb and Skander.  I thought Caleb was little weak at C, but I guess Howard may become center eligible.  Skander had a good draft , a little weak at SF depth.  It will hurt your ability to get as many quality games as possible a week.  WOW has a great top 6-7, which will get the majority of his teams games.  Derek always has good drafts, and I like what he did.

I think those 4 are in good shape for making the playoffs.  I like a lot of what Ted did, but I'm sorry Ted I don't get your man crush on Nene'.  Ted though is going to struggle scoring points, and the categories related to scoring.

I like Randy's team (I think LA LOSSIERS is Randy).  Randy got a great group of wings, and then loaded up in the middle.  He could afford to do that with his set of wings.

As far as picks that seemed to be stretch, or great picks

Raymond Felton I thought was a stretch.  I think you could have got him later.

I think Randy Foye is also a bit of a stretch, I am not sure how many minutes he will get.  There were other PG who will get minutes that you passed on.

I think Shareef at 62 was a little early.  He is the #4 scorer on that team, not like the glorys years in Vancouver, and Atlanta.

Andre Iguodala at 66 was a fabulous pick.  He is a late 3rd to early 4th round talent, not mid 6th.

Baron Davis, if he is healthy, at 46 is one of the best picks in the draft.

Vladimir Radmanovic at 69 was way to early.  I have seen some other drafts where he wasn't even picked.

Not a big fan of Mo Pete, and his minutes will fall this year, but at 81, that is a solid pick.

Leandro Barbosa at 83, was a bad pick, especially considering Zach Randolph was the next pick at 84, and also considering the players available in the 9th.  Barbosa is a reasonable player, nothing wrong with drafting him, but he would have been there in the 11th or 12th.

I have read where one guy believes Ronnie Brewer will be the best player long term from this draft, based upon some statistical models.  I think he has a point and Brewer will have one of the better careers of the players drafted this year.  At the same time I bet he hasn't been drafted in 80% of Yahoo drafts, and the following players were taken right after him
9 4 Ronnie Brewer G Nerfgundeathsquad
9 5 Larry Hughes SG Lurker's BBallers
9 6 Al Harrington F Los Angeles Loosiers
9 7 Adam Morrison F Bods Ballers
9 8 Nene Hilario FC Ted's Little Bops
9 9 Tayshaun Prince SF Genghis's PolarBears
9 10 Tyrus Thomas F Wolverine's Gunners
9 11 Sam Cassell PG westkoast wankstas
9 12 Wally Szczerbiak GF Archangel United
10 1 Kyle Korver SF Archangel United
I would take all those players, except Nene', over Brewer.  There are some really really good players there, and some of those will be the best overall picks (based upon production and draft slot).  Two years ago Larry Hughes was a top 10 player before he got hurt.  HArrington is a top 50 guy, Morrison is top 2 for ROY, Prince fills up a box score, and plays 35 minutes a night, Ty Thomas was the guy Chicago wanted more than anyone, Cassell is always a top 40-50 player, Wally at 108 a steal, and Korver is the best 3 point shooter in the league and you guys use 3's and 3 pt %.  Brewer would have been there in the 12-14th rounds.

Couple of others
Nazr Mohammed.  I can understand Randy's approach considering the quality of his wing players, but Nazr don't do for me.  I would have considered him much later.

Shelden Williams  too many other good players still on the board to take him that high.

A third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. A second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. A first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

Skandery, ya I overloaded on guards.  I am hoping that I can deal either Sam or Derek Fisher depending on how I want to approach my line up.  If Fish gets the nod to start at the 2 for the Jazz then that could be a good pick up or at least good trade bait to land a quality SF.

Zigs, I agree about Rahim.  That is why I gave myself a C- because I felt I jumped on a few players too early, he being one of them.  It was hard for me to really figure out how the phillyarena crew drafts and who they are looking for so I made some moves a little too early.

Players that I did not jump on that I really wanted (Eddie Jones and Igs) I both thought would go later in the draft and I was sadly mistaken.  I am pretty light in the SF category.

Like I said, ive learned a good deal of things about fantasy basketball after this year.  The last few years i've played with others there were alot of homer and favorite player type picks so they could get more into players they already liked so I kind of knew who was going when.
