Westkoast and WOW, about that In-N-Out Burger, you heard Ziggy fellas; when's it coming...
If I could guarentee that the double double animal style (two patties, two pieces of cheese, fresh lettuce, fresh tomatoe, grilled and raw onions, mustard, and in n outs special thousand island spread) would be perfect and hot when it got to you I would.  Got an instant transmission device laying around?

This is what I will be having for lunch BTW

You poor guys dreaming of hamburgers don't know what you're missing.

A Philadelphia Style Cheese Steak is far more enjoyable and satisfying than any hamburger.

For some reason, Philadelphia moved way up on the list from 7th to 2nd of the fattest cities.  They said residents have limited access to parks, but that is pure nonsense.  Fairmount park is the largest park of any city in the US and extends through a number of neighborhoods, straddling the Schuylkill river and Wissahickon creek.

There are bike trails all over the city and plenty of people who use them.

The only real reason Philly has so many fat people, is the food is sooo good.  From the chefs experimenting before moving to New York, the Chinese restaurants and the Pizza and Cheesteak places there are an abundance of choices for any budget.

I myself, am a skinny guy.  Fast metabolism.  And I like to excersize.

I'll take an in n out burger over a Philly cheesesteak anyday of the week and Ive had the quality cheesesteaks right in the heart of Philly when I lived out on the eastcoast for a year.  I do have to admit they are pretty damn good but I am more of a burger guy!

They have this place out here Rick called 'Phillys Best' and its a small local chain started by a family who moved out here from Philly.  Soooooo goood.  To top it off they sell Tasty Cakes there too.  Only place ive been able to find them on the westcoast.

That's a pretty bold statement Westcoast, but since I haven't had an in n out burger, I can't say.

Tastykakes too!?  That's really something.  They don't ship very far outside the area, so these guys must have someone here do it for them.

The hardest part about reproducing a Philly Cheesteak is the rolls.  Something about the water in other places makes the bread taste different, and it just doesn't work, ususally.

Dont get me wrong I loved a Cheesesteak fresh off the cart in the heart of Philly but I have a Wimpie-like obsession with hamburgers....I just dont borrow money until Tuesday to buy them lol

Two things I really miss from the eastcoast that we don't get out here ....one is the coffee cake that Tasty Cakes makes and pork roll.  Now I get my tasty cakes fix every other week when I stop by Philly's Best to grab a Rolling Rock (another great thing from Penn.) and a Cheesesteak.  Everything this Philly's Best place has comes from back east, including the rolls.  They have a certain specific company ship them out here to them but the name escapes me.

Looks like for the second day in a row this thread has made me decide what I want for lunch.

Out here we filter out the sewage from our tap water, could explain the bland taste of our rolls.

Anyone else here had a Juicy Lucy? That's a big slab of real cheddar melted between two hamburgers. There's only a couple places I know of (Matt's and the 5-8 Club) in the Twin Cities that serve them.  It's a bit like the Geno's/Pat's argument on cheesesteak on who invented them and who's is better.  They're incredibly good, staggeringly unhealthy and even dangerous as the liquified cheese will shoot out and burn your mouth and fingers.

There is one in long beach but none in LA yet.  Mainly Orange County and now Riverside/San Diego county.

Apparently its franchised out now.  Ive been going to the original onei n Fountain Valley because its like 2 seconds from the office.

That's the key alright.  Those Amoroso rolls are the real deal.  There's also another baker that supplies alot of the local shops- Morobito's.

Rolling Rock used to be my beer of choice at Penn State.  The Rathsekller served up buckets of the little 7 oz. pony bottles.  When I lived in Texas I would allways drive down with a case from back home.  These days, they've been bought out and have gone national.

And every once in a while I'll even get a Franks soda.

There are lots of other places I'd probably like to live in, and would love to move to Florida.  But I know that there are some things from Philly that you just can't get that are hard to give up.

Malik Rose still has two of his Philly's Famous shops out here, they sell a lot stuff from Philly, didnt see if they sell tastykake they do sell "water-ice."  Anyway< malik has his family running the place and they are suppossed to have brought real philly recipes with them... All I know is it is pretty good.  But I would still take a good burger over a cheese steak.
