Trivia Q.
« on: April 19, 2005, 09:35:24 AM »
Since the NBA draft started in 1947, only two players who were not drafted went on to become an All Star team member.

Who were these players?
Hint, they are not so obsure as if you would not know them.
Hint2.  They are not 1948 Converse hightop wearing.

Ben Wallace is an obvious one.  Don't know who the second one could be though.

No that's close.  You are correct about Antonio Davis being indeed an All Star and a 2nd R pic.

1989 the draft went to 2 rounds only.

Since then 2nd Rounders who became All Stars in addition to Antonio Davis:

Jeff Hornacek
Dennis Rodman
Cedric Ceballos

Rodman was a first I believe, late first.

There have also been Boozer and Redd recently.  Rashard Lewis.

I have the answer to your question, but I won't say it since I had to search.  I'll just say that he is active, has been on 3 teams, and went to Perdue.

More hints about this undrafted player.

He plays in the Pacific Division.
He became an All Star the same year as BenWa.  2003

On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

For what it's worth, Rodman was second rounder the same year as Hornacek.  Mark Price was also a 2nd round pick that year.  I doubt that there has been a 2nd round with three players of that caliber since then.

Bing Bing.

dabods 1986 history changing draft for Pistons was:
R1 John Salley
R2 Dennis Rodman.

giving them their bookend forwards for 2 titles.  (Should have been 3  B)

Ah, see, that's where it got me.

Dennis Rodman was a 2nd round pick.  All I saw was it listed as pick #27.  Back then the first round only had 24 picks.

2001 was good.  Hassell, Arenas, Okur, Earl Watson, Bobby Simmons.

then you had Boozer, Gadzuric and Ronald Murray the following year.

And of course the year that had both Rashard Lewis and Mobley was pretty good.

Price and Rodman were both high 2nd round picks.  For where he was picked (22nd in the 2nd round), that was tremendous.

The Pistons were LUCKY to win one.  They are the luckiest champs in history.  Of their 3 titles, 2 of them were won because of injuries to their oppenents.

W.O.W. So true.  Lenny Bias death was indeed sad.  As for Birds back and McHales ankle injury, Red A and K.C. Jones brain annurisms, unfortunate.  But we've got to move on.

Yes.

Let us never look down on the value when trading away 1st or 2nd Round picks.
Get a good return for the picks you trade?  Great.

Obviously it's never an exact how draft picks will or won't turn out.
Who was drafted ahead of Charles Barkley?  John Stockton?  On and on.
I realize Bark and Stockton were 1st Rs.

so the answer is Brad Miller, correct?  or were you looking for another player?
