My wife and I are looking for a weekend getaway, and we found the Pechanga Resort and Casino near San Diego. In Temecula, CA actually.

Anybody ever been there? Advice anyone, yeah or nay?

Been there and go there once a month.  Its a fun place but not exactly a place I would tell you to go if you wanted to see California.  Temecula is in the middle of nowheresville.   If you want to go anywhere else, except maybe San Diego its a drive.  A real long drive.  LA is a drive and a half especially on the weekend.  The beach isnt exactly that close either.

There is a nice upscale club there and a few acts comming up like Bill Cosby (although I know tickets are expensive).  Then of course you have your various bars, places to eat, hold em poker room, slots, video roulette,  Black Jack, California Craps, etc etc etc etc.  Drinks are not free when you gamble!  Also try not to get a room at Pechanga.  They overcharge big time and any of the local hotels will be just as good.

AND!! If you want to feel right at home like you never left Texas....right up the street towards the freeway from Pechanga there is this cowboy look alike town.  There is a cowboy bar there (forget the name) that is always packed with "your kind"  :D

I've gone to Pechega a few times, it's ok.  Casino Morongo is nearby as well and is the latest and greatest Cali casino around.  It's near Palm Spings but IMO both P and M are in the middle of nowhere as west state.  San Diego is fun but it's about an hour south of Pechunga, so is the closest beach.  Let me know if you head down there anyway, I get down there alot lately.  Maybe we could setup a little get together with west and reality as well, reality is a SD local.

Temucula attracts people who are into wine.  Palm Springs has the tramway that takes you to the top of the "world", there is sometimes snow up there.

IMO Santa Barbera gives you the best of Cali. Beaches, scenery, luxury and shopping.  There is a casino within 1 hour or less of Santa Barbera.

Thank you for the info. It sounds enticing, but I'm a bit wary now. If we go, our flight will fly into Ontario around 10pm, and since I've never been to California before, trying to find my way from their to the resort (which is in the middle of nowhere) in the middle of the night,  does not sound like how I would want to spend a Friday night!

I guess my wife will just have to see HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH on the Burger King commercial instead of live at the Pechanga!     :D

Actually, Ontario Airport is just off the 15 freeway and so is Pechunga.  You take the 15 freeway south for about and hour and a half and you're at Pechunga.  It's like 5 minutes off the 15 freeway, not hard to find at all.
