World Series Poll

In the last 3 trips to the World Series for the Red Sox they lost in 7 games to the team with the record in baseball that year.

In 1986 it was the Mets with 108 wins, 12 more than the Astros, Sox had 95 wins.
In 1975 it was the Reds with 108 wins, 16 more than the Pirates, Sox had 95 wins.
In 1967 it was the Cards with 101 wins, 9 more than the Sox who had 92 wins.

This year the Cards had 105 wins the Sox had 98.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

Schills healthy/medical team brace/doped up enough to go strong 2 games being a key.  Postseason stats are untouchable with the one injury game exception.

Arroyo and Lowe have been nails lately.
Pedro.....He could be the Cards ace in the hole.  Yes the Cards ace.

As with all series someone will emerge and be the unexpected X factor.  Womack?
Johny B Good or Johny B Slump?

The Sox showed they have the poise to get it done, they gutted it up big time against their most hated rivals in their own crib, they have to be going into this series with an incredible amount of confidence. I don't buy for a minute the claims out of Boston though, that even if they don't win the World Series, they still beat the Yankees and that is enough. After what they did to New York, anything less than a World Championship will be abject failure, and I don't think this team that by all historical reference points should have rolled over, has the word failure in their vocabulary. I'm picking the Sox in 7 only because St. Louis has home field which should force a game 7.

Hmmm, this is a tough one for me, going against the NL champ, only time it's happened for this Dodger fan, but the only team I hate worse than the Yankees or SF Giants is the Cards.

IMO the Red Sox showed alot more poise, confidence, and really are as hot as any team in baseball as been.  Winning 4 games in a row being down 3-0 says alot....plus they were playing one of the best teams in baseball over the past 5-10 years.  Sure Cards had the better record but the Yanks are better in the playoffs.

With all that said..I want the Cards to win because I want my baseball team to have lost to the world championship team.  It will soothe my pain ....but my heart tells me Bo Sox in 6.
