Bizarre situation with Sheed and James
« on: February 20, 2004, 11:12:01 PM »
Sheed played in the first half tonight for Detroit, not sure if Mike James did but I think he did.

During half time the league office called Detroit and told them that some paperwork had not been completed and Wallace and James were not allowed to play in the second half.

Anyone recall this ever happening before?

Props to Fred Hoiberg for coming back in to play after talking an elbow to the nose and a knee to the sack from Corliss Williamson on the same play.

No i havent.  that has to be a 1st.
And Wallace, not Big Ben with 12 boards 1st half alone.  Wow.

As to the game WT?  Reading play by play:

14 seconds Sam Cassell hits FTs 86-85 MN
02 seconds Tayshaun Prince missed 29 ft Three Point Jumper. Blocked by Kevin Garnett.
0:01   Ben Wallace Offensive Rebound.
0:01   87-86 MN Ben Wallace made Tip Shot.
0:01  Latrell S misses two free throws.
0:00   Darvin Ham Bad Pass. Stolen by Sam Cassell.
End game.

a)  If KG blocks a 29 foot 3 point attempt by Prince with 02 seconds left, how does Ben Wallace get the tipped shot AND put it in the hoop in 1 second.

B)  If Spree misses both FTs with :01 left, doesnt the game end after the miss?
This must be a typo.  I hope to catch it on SportCenter.

Well as to the blocked shot KG just barley tipped it and it ended up going to Big Ben right at the rim like an alley oop pass.

Spree missed the first free throw attempt.  He then attempted to miss the free throw to make time run as Detroit chased the rebound. He was too successful.  <_<  He didn't even hit the rim so Detroit inbounded from the side, 3/4 court.  Hoiberg intercepted a long pass at the end.

ok well whats real confusing is the box score said MN won 88-87.
Ill figure this out in the morning.
As of this writing i dont know who won, i just got in on the very end of Fox Sports West and they showed the last play but not the score

NBA is ultra lame for the halftime Sheed James debacle.

Update Boxscore had Detroit ahead 87-86.  That was never the case.  It was 88-85 MN when Ben Wallace hit for the 88-87 finale.  Typo glitch by ESPN.
