Anyone see the ESPN interview with Shaq?
« on: July 15, 2004, 09:40:49 AM »
-Shaq is mad not only about the contract extension but about the lack of communication from the top and the direction that the Lakers were going to take.  Something he said he did not want to be apart of

-He belives Phil Jackson is the greatest coach ever and that management F'd up by not wanting to keep around a guy who took a team to the finals 4 out of 5 years.  He also went on to say if another coach can do that that he will go on Fear Factor and kiss the guys feet with cheese on em  :alcohol:

-Shaq believes Kobe could be the greatest to ever play the game, better than Mike, himself, and Duncan if he would just do the little things like make his teamamtes better.  He said he is still a good player but he has the potential to be the greatest.  When asked about Kobe off the court Shaq said that he doesnt have time to think about how guys are off the court and that it doesnt matter.  He said on the court the work was done and thats all that matters.  Which sounded like to me like he doesnt like Kobe but was man enough to not cry about it.

-He thinks Jerry Buss is a bad owner for pushing out one of the best exec's in the game, one of the best coaches in the game,  and for pushing him out.  Shaq hinted around to the fact that Jerry West left for other reasons than 'stress'.

-When they asked him how the Lakers look and how thye will do next year he replied simply with 'I dont care, im not a Laker anymore'
