Trivia question
« on: June 02, 2004, 12:40:36 PM »
When was the last finals sweep?
And which two teams were involved?

Also.  This year the Lakers and Pistons both were the road team in the Conf finals yet both advanced.
Has this ever happened before and if so what teams.

Led by Byron Scott you are correct sir.
I forgot about that one.

Back in the Golden Age it was '89-90 Detroit sweeping LAL Magic Worthy and co.

Now as to the Conf finals having both LAL and Detroit advance to the finals this year......was that ever done before and if so by whom?

Actually the last time before the Lakers-Nets was in 1995.  The Rockets swept the Magic.

Last time the two conference finals were won by the team starting on the road was in 1978....Washington & Seattle.

Sounds like you also forgot about the Rockets/Magic sweep, as well.

I'm thinking back, but I can't think of any time in the 90's where both road teams in the Conference Finals advanced.  I'm not sure about the late 80's-early 90's Lakers/Blazers and the late 80's/early 90's Pistons, but I'm skeptical.  Other years where it might be possible would be the '86 Celtics/Rockets (although I'm pretty sure Boston was the #1 seed), or the '81 Celtics/Rockets (although I'm pretty sure Boston was the #1 that year as well) and prior to that, it would be the '78 Bullets/Sonics.  That takes me back to the start of my exposure to basketball.

Bing Bing.   Yep Joe isn't he good.
He was a blast this year rooting for the Spurs and exposing falsehoods of the Evil Empire adherents.

Something happened to him the last few weeks tho....

Lurker, could you expound upon us, or at least me, is a single thing said in SA media about Pops O decisions?  Bringing in an O coordinator ala Tex Winters just does not enter the Spurs thinking?  Is this because the owner thinks Pop is the cats meow and since a small market team had done it twice in 6 years he thinks thats as good as it could ever get?  Oohhh that disappoints me if it is how he thinks.
