I'm a huge Runyan fan, glad someones taking a chance with him. I loved watching him get out on a run plays and level fools.

He was a solid pass blocker and a great run blocker, but I don't know what you're going to get from him now, he's taken a beating over the years.  I do know he'll give everything he's got and play through any injury.

I'd say his dirty player rap is justified but it isn't a bad thing. He isn't going to cause stupid penalties or anything like that. You'll probably appreciate his nastiness if he gets a chance to show it.

Hope he still has some of the physical tools left in the tank.

Do you think he has a chance to eventually start or is he just going to be a depth guy?

It depends on how much he has left. Runyan was a great player for the Eagles, but he is at the end of his career.  He's still probably better than anyone else the Chargers have at that spot. If he can go, expect him to get the starting spot. He can really open up holes in the running game or at least he did.

He definitely has a chance.  OT Jerome Clary went down, that is for the most part what prompted the trade for Runyan.  Added to the mix however, is injury to All Pro center Nick Hardwick, whose return keeps getting bumped back a week thus the Chargers have shifted lineman around.  Rookie Brandyn Dombrowski, a local from San Diego State has filled in at guard and been both good and bad.  The Chargers switched him to tackle today vs Kansas City.  It's his first time playing tackle in college or pros.  That is what will determine how much immediate pt Runyan gets.  It went well today for Dombrowski vs Kansas City altho the Chargers won with the pass.  We'll see how Dombrowski does when he gets tested against a better D like vs Cincinatti in two weeks. 

I look for Runyan to get some pt vs Cleveland next week and then vs Cinci it all depends on how Dombroski is playing.
