Rick Barry wants Barrdog a Phx Sun
« on: February 28, 2008, 02:23:38 AM »
Pretty much a burn on the Spurs.  While I do wish the Spurs would have used Barrdog much more at the backup point, especially 2006s failed experiment with NVExell, all in all he can suck eggs.  Put up pretty stats or contribute to a ring?  Unless Barrdog Sr is playing along  ;)

In Pheonix he can do BOTH.  It's not like he is trying to decide between the Spurs and the Clippers.  The Suns are a legit contender to win the title.  No team looks like a lock to come out of the WC, I don't see how the Spurs are a better fit for him.

Then again:

I would say it's a done deal for the Spurs.  :D

No, the "he can suck eggs" comment is for Rick Barry.
He has some valid points.
He has some invalid ones.

I think he figures Bardog will get more playing time in PHX which I am sure he would.  The running back and forth after being in slower systems for the past 4 years would have me concerned if I was a Bardog fan.  He doesn't get the Shaq luxury of rebounding and throwing the outlet.  He actually HAS to run everytime as a 3 point threat.

Rick Barry's problem is that he never played defense either.  Having Brent back as insurance/backup behind Manu/Finley is great but the main reason he never got more playing time had nothing to do with offense.

So in some ways I guess he would fit in great with the new look Suns...slow enough pace for a 36 year old perimeter player to look good offensively but who cares if you can stop the other guy defensively.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.  Keep on thinking free.

Gordan Giricek could be on the verge of becoming a former 76er. According to a source familiar with the situation, the Sixers are planning to accommodate the Croatian swing man's request to be bought out of the remainder of his contract. As long as Giricek is waived before midnight Saturday, he will be playoff-eligible if he signs with another team. The source indicated that, as of now, his likely destination is Phoenix, although that hinges on a decision coming from veteran Brent Barry.

The PHX Suns perimeter defense is just going to be so awesome with Giricek!

What cracks me up is Steve Kerr has been saying that their previous style of basketball was not going to win them the championship...but the problem was NEVER on the offensive side.  Their style, which was to just outscore the opponent, was the wrong style of basketball.  DEFENSE wins titles.  Yet Steve Kerr continues to go after pieces he thinks will improve the half court offense.  I just don't get it.

Seriously...getting Ron Artest would have made a world of a difference.  They should have got him long before Bardog, Giricek, Cassell, etc.
