How good was/is Michael Vick?
« on: December 10, 2007, 11:54:00 AM »
As a treater of animals, very bad.
When he gets out of prison in 2009 or so will he get picked up by an NFL team?  Count on it.

Stictly as an NFL QB, while you Eagles got the best of him in two playoff games.....
Look at Atlanta with and without Vick.
With.  Couple of playoffs, 2-2 playoff record, beat Farve Green Bay at GB in playoffs (never had been done).
Rushed for 1000+ yards best all time.

Without.
2-9 in 2003, with Vick coming back from injury in Dec and going 3-2.
3-8 so far this year.

My conclusion, Vick made well below average sucky ATL teams good, very good a couple years.  Not Superbowl good, but these teams do not even sniff the playoffs without him yet sniff them virtually every year with him.  As to his qb skills, like the Centerless NBA, in a current NFL with not a lot of good QBs, Vick was in the top 1/3rd hands down.

Other than rushing yards, and interceptions Harrington is better, and Joey isn't even close to a top 1/3 QB.  Vick was a very medicore NFL OB.

A quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself.

pssssshh.  How can you exclude rushing yards when talking about Vick!?
Only Randall Cunningham and Steve Young have more rushing yards at the quarterback position than Vick. He is also first among QB's all-time in rushing yards per game, at 53.5 yards per game.  Vick also holds several NFL quarterback rushing records, including most rushing yards in one game (173), most 100-yard rushing games (7), and most rushing yards in a single season (1,039).

Joeys record and playoff appearances?

I am not ignoring Vicks rushing stats.  I was just comparing him to Joey, and Joey is better except for rusing and int's.  Vick is better than Joey, didn't say he wasn't.  Vick isn't substantially better than Joey though.  Vick averaged 202 YPG (rushing and passing), Joey averaged 181 YPG.  Vick played on teams with a great deal more talent.
Joey is a below average NFL QB, Vick was just an average NFL QB, nothing more.
