I first started hearing about White when he was coming out of high school.  He had no fundamentals then and he has none now.  If memory serves me correctly he washed out at Florida before transferring to the correctionial institute know as Bob Huggin's Cincinnati Bearcats.   In terms of fundamentals, well, comparing him to  Devean George is actually selling George short.

Believe me there are a ton of real Spurs who have been waiting and hollering to see White get some playing time -in favor of Fins.

And why should I believe you.

Funny thing is that I haven't heard that from any Spurs fans that live in San Antonio and watch them regularly.  I guess it is just Southern California Spurs fans that you are talking to....

As far as posting the link...try going to mysa.com
My peops are Kori Ellis and husband LJ of KOAI.  They post and share info with Johnny Ludden and his Express-News articles as soon as or even before mysa.com has them up.  Read the article you posted already this a.m.  Plenty of SA folks howling to see White well before last night.  Plenty who are happy with Findawg and his 37 minutes per game vs Dallas Elimination series as you were.  It's not one sided.

Woops make that WOAI.  I did have that Californianized.

I don't know if WOW statement is correct that we will be looking up at dallas next year.  Manu is not going to play for his team this summer, and hopefully Tony will be rested too since he is going to be getting married this summer - I hope that means he will NOT play any basketball.  I had not heard about Dallas signing an Argentinian - is this guy over hyped like Oberto was?  God I hope so.  On the other hand I hope we will FINALLY try to sign Scola for next years squad - and if we do I HOPE he does not turn out to be another Oberto as well.

As for the rookie, I didn't get to see the dunk he had the other night but I heard it was impressive.  What gets me is why Pop is hardly playing his youngest guys.  Jackie Butler was suppossedly going to be a diamond in the rough according to ESPN - and they thought he should have been starting, Ely has not been used much, and I just read about this White kid.  Is he trying to save these kids for the playoffs as some sort of stumper?  No telling, just curious why we hardly see these guys on the court.
On the set of Walker Texas Ranger Chuck Norris brought a dying lamb back to life by nuzzling it with his beard. As the onlookers gathered, the lamb sprang to life. Chuck Norris then roundhouse kicked it, killing it instantly. The lesson? The good Chuck giveth, and the good Chuck, he taketh away.

A couple reasons....

As stated about Elson...Pop feels it takes at least one year sometimes two to understand the Spurs defensive calls.  Butler is a supposedly a tremendous low block scorer but lacks defensive skills.  Ely was just acquired and needs time to learn the Spurs system.  White was specifically picked up to be a project.  White has even been sent to the NBDL just to improve his skills...very athletic but lacks fundamentals.  These guys get plenty of floor time in practice and obviously can't beat out the players ahead of them.

Good point, I think people tend to forget about practice.  Players can show their coach alot, good or positive, about how they can contribute in a game durring practice.  I don't know how many times PJ has changed the line-up this year, with Bynum in particular, because of what he saw, or didn't see, durring practice.

I don't know if I agree with playing a young player heavy minutes unless you have to.  Of course there are exceptions to this when you have awesome players (Kevin Garnett comes to mind) but if you can afford to bring them along mentally at a slower pace then I think they benefit more.  There is alot to adjust to when you get to the NBA aside from learning defensive sets and tricks of the trade.

Very hard balancing act though I must say.  Do you gamble and use minutes from proven guys and chance screwing up chemistry for the end of the year?  Or do you bring them along slowly and chance really missing the chance to develop these guys a little quicker for the future of the franchise?

And how could we forget Glenn "Big Dog" Robinsons 10 min per game including 3 Finals games appearances! ;D
Tony Massenburg going for 27 playoff minutes.
(27 is more then zero for you White/Butler/Elson/Ely can't play this yearers.)

King as a rookie played how many minutes????

Why not list Jacques Vaughn this year?

Think about this...compare how many of those are seasoned vets who knew how to play a defined role on a contending team and how many where in the first few years in the league.

But if you are still so insistent that you know better than one of the best coaching staffs in the NBA then the only conclusion can be that your knowledge of basketball hasn't developed past the level of any 5 year old.

Great idea.  Why not?  Did you see him fill in yesterday vs Indy?  Nick Van Exel isn't coming back is he?
