Can the Spurs catch the Suns?
« on: March 30, 2007, 11:36:18 AM »
Eleven games left for each team and the Suns hold a 2 game edge.  The teams split the first two meetings and have 1 left.

Spurs play 7 home and 4 road games.  Of potential playoff teams they play Utah, Phoenix and Denver at home; Dallas on the road.  The Denver game being the finale and could be a toss away.  Only 1 back to back left (Dallas & Memphis on the road).

Suns play 5 home and 6 away.  Playoff teams...Denver, Dallas, Lakers twice, Spurs, Jazz, Rockets and Clippers.  Three back to backs left with Spurs/Hornets on the road, Lakers/Jazz (home/away) and Rockets/Clippers (away/home)

The Suns have the tougher remaining schedule and have been struggling (somewhat) of late.  To stand a chance against teh Spurs in the playoffs the Suns need homecourt.  IMO the Spurs should catch them.

Depends on whether you would get more joy from the second seed or from bouncing Kobe's Lakers from the playoffs.

I think they can.  The difference between the Spurs and the Suns is that their (SA) defense makes them a more consistant and stable team.  On any given night the Suns can get cold at the wrong time and lose a game.  They also play teams that have no trouble scoring on them at will and should beat them on the glass pretty handily (Dallas, Lakers, Spurs, etc) .

In the reverse Denver is going to have problems with the SA defense...also PHX, Memphis, and Dallas will have some challenges as well.

All this talk about how awesome the Suns are and so little talk from NBA fans all over about the Spurs....sad.  I've been telling friends that I think SA is a major sleeper and should knock PHX out of the playoffs.

Kobester beating Phx twice greatly increases the odds of being able to see the Spurs play the Lakers at Staples in R1.
Also Spurs hosting Phx for games 1,2 and 5 of R2 would be nice.  I'm hoping Yao and Hou win their R1 and will be in full on revenge mode vs Dallas.

No if only msc and WOW would ever tell me what is currently happening with scalps 10 minutes after tipoff.

But you're right.  Kobester without Shaq again being bounced from the playoffs would be huge fodder. :D

I can see where you're comming from, seeing Manu and Parker get bounced from the playoffs without Duncan would be....oh wait...they've been getting bounced with all their key players.   Nevermind.......

No.  If Lakers beat Suns twice then Lakers will most likely end up as #6 seed.  Suns would be #3 seed.  And THEY would play each other in round 1.  Spurs would play Nuggets.

Darn it, you're right.  Would msc or W.O.W. go to the Nuggets arena 10 minutes after tipoff to give me scalp prices?

I've got it!  Clippers catch Denver, Spurs pass Phx.
SAS at Clipperville R1  ;D

WOW will you be in Phx circa Round 2?

Hopefully they play the Spurs cuz I have a hookup for playoff tickets!

And the Lakers beat the Suns twice is a long shot...
