Whats happening to Orlando?
« on: February 25, 2007, 08:35:36 PM »
Ended last season with a buzz.
Buzz continued with 14-5 start.
Since then 13-25.

Hedo Turkoglu is playing like Michael Finley, except Turkey is passing the ball more then once in a blue moon and rebounding.
Grant Hill has been good when in (story of career).
Can't blame just these two, what is up?
I don't see enough of Orlando.

The story behind Orlando is the ineptitude of their point guards.

A team with a great big man is always limited by the ability of the point guard to get that big man the basketball.  Nelson is a shoot-first kind of guy, Arroyo dribbles the air out of the basketball, and Dooling isn't a point guard.

Hey JoeV!

I respectfully and humbly disagree with you - in this case, your fount of wisdom is spewing unpotable output, IMHO.

The Orlando Magic is one of those NBA franchises that has been in free-fall for many years, similar to the Boston Celtics.  Think about it...in the mid-90s, the Magic were (one of) the most hyped up-and-coming teams there was - for good reason!  They were jam-packed with talent...Dennis Scott, Nick Anderson, Horace Grant, Shaq, Penny...still to the current time, the Magic's web site lists the drafting of Shaquille O'Neal (justifiably so, BTW) as the most important day in the Magic's team history - they've got that right!  However, the hard-core smack-down that (H)Akeem & Co. laid on Orlando in the Finals broke the young team's spirit so badly that it was a Humpty-Dumpty situation - something LAL stalwarts will appreciate into perpetuity.

Orlando's story is one of youth.  They are still learning how to play in the NBA.  Howard, Milicik & Ariza form probably the best YOUNG (they all turn 22 this year)frontline in the NBA.  Nelson is still learning when to shoot and when to defer to his big men.  JJ Redick shows flashes of the sharpshooter that he was in college.

IMO this team will be a top Eastern team for several years.  Right now they just need a little experience.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.  Keep on thinking free.
