It is common for people to pick the teams they think will be the most improved, but here, we're concerned with the teams that will be getting worse this upcomming season.
It could be a bad team getting worse, or a good team that is slipping, in decline and falling out of contention.
I'm not too concerned with the bad teams, I mean once you're bad, the expectations aren't too high anyway. But there are fans hoping their teams are contenders who may find that the team they put their faith in is going to fail.
On top of my list is Detroit, which won over 60 games last season, and no longer has Ben Wallace. They should still be a winning team with their depth of talent, but with McDyess, Mohammed and Davis, they're not a contender.
Second pick is San Antonio. TD is not enough by himself to ensure victory. Neither Manu nor Parker are really good enough. Robert Horry looked done last year, I think his days of comming to the rescue are over. They'll still be a good team, just not good enough to beat the best teams.
New Jersey is getting older. Krtstic isn't anything special. Carter, Kidd and Jefferson aren't going to get any better, and there's no one else on the team that will make a big difference.
Memphis has injury problems with Gasol, his being out of the lineup should take them down a notch, not that they were contenders anyway!
I see Chicago improving somewhat with the addition of Wallace. In the West, I think the Suns will be even better than last year, and will give the Mavericks a real challenge- it may come down to which team gets homecourt advantage.
Miami may also be in decline, but I'm not sure if anyone has gotten strong enough to take the title away. I can't believe Gary Payton is still there!
