PALS OF rapper Fabolous were caught on camera ripping a $50,000 diamond chain off NBA star Sebastian Telfair's neck - and the same tape shows the gunman who shot Fabolous about 20 minutes later fleeing in a getaway car, sources said.

The video catches Fabolous' Brooklyn buddies approaching Telfair outside hip-hop mogul Sean (Diddy) Combs' W. 21st St. restaurant early Tuesday, the sources said yesterday.

One of Fabolous' pals can be seen grabbing the chain from Telfair's neck while another, decked out in a Brooklyn T-shirt, keeps watch, the sources said.

The thieves then bolted into Diddy's restaurant Justin's, the sources said.

Telfair, a point guard for the Boston Celtics, followed the crooks inside and saw them laughing with members of Fabolous' crew - known as the Street Family, the sources said.

Telfair, who grew up in Coney Island, pulled out his cell phone and made a call, the sources said.

Twenty-three minutes later, a security camera outside the restaurant captured the gunman who shot 28-year-old Fabolous in a nearby parking lot driving off in a gray car, the sources said. The rapper was not believed to be the gunman's target, the sources added.

Ed Hayes, Telfair's lawyer, said the Celtics star merely called a family member and has shared all the cell phone numbers he called that night with police.

"The [security] tape completely supports everything my client said happened that night," Hayes said. "He's a lovely young man. It was outrageous what these punks did, and he will press charges."

Cops were looking to question several of Telfair's friends from Coney Island last night, one source said.

Fabolous, whose real name is John Jackson, was wounded in the thigh. He and three members of his crew were later hit with gun charges because cops said they found illegal weapons stashed in the car the rapper was riding to Bellevue Hospital.

On Tuesday, Telfair went to the 13th Precinct stationhouse and looked at lineups of suspects that included three members of Fabolous' crew.

Telfair was unable to pick out his attackers, police said.

The hoop star will return to the stationhouse later this week to look at images pulled off the security footage, sources said.
