Rasho or Nazr
« on: March 29, 2006, 11:24:40 AM »
It's a legit question.
Nazr is starting to get some sneers for his D of late, some RealSpurs claiming that opposing guards are driving the lane much more freely with the slowly rotating Nazr.

While Nazr is great around the hoop, does Rasho rotate much better and play better team D?

Unfortunately for Rasho, his O around the hoop is so weak....

When did Rasho develop the ability to rotate well???  That was part of the reason Nazr started to take more minutes from him.

Apparantly Nazr has been really slacking lately on the rotations while Rasho seems to have picked it up well this year.

Perhaps his benching has him giving more effort, altho he looks pretty much the same to me.  Altho in spurts i have seen some very good switches and defends by Rash.

Both of them cannot rely on Tim Dunker to continually cover for them as before.

Actually koast, Pop says that Rasho is a very good defender (one of the best positional defenders on the Spurs).  He knows his assignments within the team defense, rotates well, and does a good job of challenging shots.  His main problem is offense and lack of overall aggressiveness.

Nazr isn't as good on defense fundamentally.  However, he makes up for it with hustle.  He also is much more aggressive on the offensive glass.  His hustle and offensive boarding is what earns Nazr minutes.  Defensive slips will earn him splinters.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.  Keep on thinking free.
