Iguodala 15th.  Iggy got shafted.  Good for a rookie though.

Andre was 6th in the league in steals... definitely shafted.

I don't see a Rookie EVER getting DPOY.  While I think Andre should have been listed higher, I wouldn't get TOO upset, AI actually got votes!  I can't believe that anyone thinks that AI should have been DPOY.

In this league, you've got to prove yourself for several years to get DPOY -- it's not true for offensive categories but it sure is for DPOY.

Oh, I wasn't expecting Andre to get more votes.  But he did deserve more.

And AI's a joke.  Just goes to show it's about name and stats (steals).  AI might not be in the top 11 defensive players on the sixers :)

This award isnt much different than the other awards given away at the end of the season.  A popular defender like Ben Wallace is going to win more times than not.  On top of that a big man is more likely to win.

Andre made the list and you guys should be real happy with that.  Id say that learning how to play defense in the NBA is the hardest part about adjusting from a lower level.  You can always fall back on athletiscm to score as a rook but playing solid defense takes more thinking.

Just my opinion but it seems the defensive awards are based on past accomplishment much more than the other awards.  Thoughts?

I agree jn.  It almost as if the award is given for the previous year.
