Is Bowen a sissy?

Seattle guard Ray Allen took some verbal shots at San Antonio guard Bruce Bowen after Bowen frustrated him throughout the game with physical defense. Venting his frustrations at Bowen, Allen called his style of basketball “sissy” likely building a great rivalry for the Spurs next meeting with the Sonics on March 3rd, when th Sonics head to San Antonio. Allen was clearly frustrated with Bowne’s physical play telling reporters "I was at a point where I wanted to fight him… I wasn't thinking about playing basketball. I wanted to fight him. That's not good for this team. If I get in that frame of mind, I'm not doing good for the team. That was my frustration in the first half… I've never been so mad on the court while I've been in the NBA. He took me out of my game… We've actually spent time around each other, and over the past we've been friends, but I can't stand him. I understand the persona on the court; you can't like anybody. ... But what he does is sissy basketball, the way he cheap-shots." Bruce Bowen laughed off the exposure he’s gotten from the comments by Allen, saying to San Antonio press "If I'm a sissy, doesn't that mean he's running over all me?… But, hey, that's his opinion. That's part of life. You're entitled to your opinion."

Pretty stupid comments by Ray Allen and everyone knows I'm not a Spurs fan   .  It's obvious that Allen was frustrated by Bowen who is a very good defensive player -- albeit a very physical one but that's part of the NBA.  One of the problems with being interviewed right after a game is that it's very difficult not to give an interview that's based on the emotion of the game -- if you win, it's a great emotion -- if you lose, it's too easy to let all those emotions flow right into your words.  Allen is one of the classiest guys in the NBA and while these words were obviously said in frustration to what Bowen did to Allen and they are pretty dumb it's not like the words that Shaq used the other day!  

I like McMillan a lot -- he was such a solid player and a great person -- one of those players who played with heart every night.  However, I don't like his offensive sets -- WAY too much isolation in his offense -- he needs to run some screens for Allen -- that would get Ray a chance to face up against a different player and get some open looks.  Bowen was doing his job and I think Allen was too -- I think McMillan failed him in this situation.
