Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird

Thought I would seek out the opinions of the experts, so does anybody here use Firefox or Thunderbird?  If so what are your opinions, and would you recommend then?  What are the advanatges and disadvantages?

I use Mozilla Firefox and prefer it over Microsoft Explorer.  It's faster and has better built in protection to outside interference.  The only problem with it, is that it doesn't display all the graphic formats, so you won't see all of the pictures or buttons on some screens.

It doesn't work very well with MSN.com, but that's not much of a loss.

The only "downside" to using Firefox (haven't used the full-fledged Thunderbird in quite some time) is that it won't display all pages.

I put downside in quotation marks because this isn't Mozilla's fault.  Any page that is html compliant Mozilla will display.  the pages it has a problem with aren't html compliant, rather IE compliant.

For example, take one of your excel spreadsheets.  Used that "nifty" save as webpage feature.  Throw it online, load it up in IE.  Works fine.  Load it up in Mozilla.  Doesn't work the same.  Why?  Excel doesn't put out html compliant pages.

Unfortunately, you have lazy coders and designers who don't go by the html standard, only checking to see if IE's bastardized rendering will make it look correct.  So this isn't the fault of Mozilla, but lazy coders and Microsoft applications.

But it's much more secure, both from a Spyware and Virus perspective.  It doesn't render ActiveX pages, and believe me when I tell you that's a good thing.  I haven't obtained one Trojan or Spyware when running Mozilla.

Tabbed browsing is also a thing of beauty, something I can't live without anymore.  There are extensions to do everything you can think of.  And Themes to customize it even more.

I use Firefox as my primary browser, only opening up IE for pages that require it.  I wouldn't even think of doing it any other way.

I had Moz for quite a while but for some reason some of Gates Bullstink was running interference.  We tinkered with it but due to time constraints i had to just out and out delete Moz.  Love to get back to it, cant stand Gates and his IE spying monopoly crap.

ps how did you find the companies with the free used monitors?

Some of those problems has more to do with the web designer designing the website with Internet Explorer in mind.  Which isnt a bad thing to do considering it dominates the browser market.

I use Mozilla in Linux when I have to jump into x-windows.  I love the thing.  Better functionality, still some security flaws but they get patched quick, and I love tabbed browsing.  I HATE having 4 seperate browsers open on my task bar.

Opera is another good browser, I like that one also.
