FISH to the Spurs? how about Rodney White??
« on: June 30, 2004, 04:19:10 PM »
both players are able to be sign by SA this summer, fish - although i am still hurting from .4 seconds - would be a good back up, someone with experience to slow the game down and lead are squad while tony rested or when tony got out of control.

rod white - he was 6th in league field goals made per minute, is just 24 years old, 6' 9" - this kid is like a young stephen jackson...  it hink it would be interesting to see if the Spurs follow up on these two...

The Spurs are the first place I thought of when I thought of Fisher.  However, now, going to Houston is probably a better option for him, as he'd be a starter there.

Rumor is that Van Gundy will sign Charlie Ward.  And I would expect him to start over Lue.
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave.  Keep on thinking free.

Man, the Sixers would have to love that. Eric Snow for 6 mil in cap space. Not bad.

it's not really the salary amount but the # of years.  he obviously declined this past year, and it's only going to get worse.  and his extension hasn't even kicked in yet.

it's the 5 more years part that makes sixers fans worry.

and, with the drafting of iguodala, the backcourt of the future is set.

How did the Rockets acquire a trade exception?  What are the specifics?

The Rockets sent out more in salary than they received.  I think it might have been with glenn rice.

TRADE 9/30/03: The Rockets sent Glen Rice, two conditional first round picks and cash to the Jazz in exchange for John Amaechi and two future second round picks.

The trade exception is for $6.9 million and expires 1 year after the deal that created it.

Thanks, wasn't aware of that.

For the record.....The Rockets have already talked to Fisher, Troy Hudson, Brent Barry, and the Sixers about Snow.

Barry has stated his desire to stay in Seattle so I think he is out.

The Rockets are more likely to use the 7 Million Dollar Trade Exception to land a backup center to replace Cato. According to reports, that could be Okur or Etan Thomas......thus axing any trade of Snow to Houston.

This leaves Troy Hudson (whom they met with today) and Fisher, whom they also talked to today.

Out of those two, I think Fish will be wearing the Rockets threads alongside T-Mac due to his experience playing alongside the Kobe/Shaq tandem and his stated desire to play in Houston. They will either give him the 5 mil MLE they have or run a sign and trade probably invloving former Clipper sharpshooter Erick Piatkowski, whom they have been recently been dangling out on the market. He was nearly traded to Cleveland last week for Kevin Olie.

WARD??  he was a huge let down for us this season, didnt fit into our system at all, Fish with Houston makes them better, but i think people are REALLY overrating the YAO-TMac tandem, some saying they will take over the West.......uh huh.  I dont see that happenning, TMac will take over the same as Franchise did, I astill see Houston being a better team this season - but not THAT much better, I think it will take a couple of seasons before they really gel into a great tandem.

Actually....I see it happening.

Why?

Cause while the Rockets no doubt get stronger, the rest of the West is getting weaker this offseason

The Lakers Empire is crumbling

SA might lose Manu to NY

The Kings are gonna lose some players to FA

Minny might lose Troy Hudson and Spree

Dallas lost Nash and gave up Jamison for.... *shudder*...Jerry Stackhouse and  Christian Laettner.......

With the West's best getting weaker, its easy and much more likely that a team like Houston could springboard to the top of the conference.

what?   where di you hear about Manu to New York??  as it is he is visiting Denver and Phoenix, but he reitirated that He wants to stay with SA.  the ball is in Popoviches hands really as to whether he stays or leaves, Manu wants a long term contract, pop can give it to him but will he?  besides i see the spurs resigning Manu, buying out Luis Scola contract and adding his skills to that of tims and rasho in the low post and resigning stephen jackson... i cant help but see us being the team to beat - even if shaq lands in dallas, they have no real point gaurd now - Nash lead that team nicely.  The spurs will need more than just Jackson to though, they need another shooter to help.
