Common Baby myths

Call it baby myths, I call them Mexican wives tales, but this is what I have heard so far from people that I know. Many of them are educated. Anybody actually believe this stuff??

1. If you take your child out, and people admire them, be sure they touch them, for fear of giving the baby "ojo" or the evil eye. If you get home, and the baby is crying, get and egg, say a hail mary, and make the sign of the cross with the egg over the babies body. Then put the egg in water, the egg will cook, as it actually pulls the evil spirit from the baby.

2. Don't let you child walk around barefooted, because they will catch a cold.

3. Don't allow your child to see you looking down on them. If the child looks up and stares at you, it will cause his eyes to roll back, and will cause damage.

1.) Babies are like puppies, you need to keep them in lock down for 2 months. Taking babies out to show them off is great and all but you're exposing them to germs and such when you introduce them to people. Your kids will get plenty of opportunity to build thier immune system when they goto school. I've heard of the "ojo" and I just have to laugh.

2.) My kids walk around barefoot all the time and nothing happens.

3.) LOL! That's funny, but you shouldn't talk down to your kids, you should go down to their eye level or bring them up to yours.

Other Spic myths my mom/wife/women have told me:
1.) Don't kiss your kids when they're sleeping or you'll take away their luck.
2.) Don't cut thier hair until they're a year old and make sure you cut it durring a full moon or they'll have trouble speaking and have thick hair.
3.) If they get frightened you have to scare the fright out of them or they'll have nightmares and get a fever.
4.) Don't step over your kids or else they'll stay short or not grow at all. If you do accidentally step over them you have to reverse your steps over them.

I'm sure there are more.
